Jay-Z & Beyonce Highest Paid Couple Of 2012

Who says celebrity marriages don’t last, or they are never really happy?
They’ve got love and money; the two things some think one can’t have together. Jay-Z and Beyonce have found the best of both. VIBE thinks they are TV’s Highest Paid Couple of 2012.
“Brad and Angelina, Jay-Z and Beyonce, Will and Jada, Tom and Giselle and David and Victoria all make the list, but it’s Jay and Bey who dethrone last year’s No. 1 down to No. 2 in 2012. That’s where being crazy in love will get ya, folks,” VIBE reports.
2012 has turned out a wonderful year for the Carters. Jay-Z came second on Forbes Wealthiest rappers of 2012, and now VIBE thinks the couple made more money than the other TV couples in 2012. Anything for Blue-Ivy?

Diddy Finishes 2012 As The Richest Rapper. See Others

Earlier in the year, Forbes Magazine released the Top-5 Richest Rappers Of 2012 with Diddy on top the list for the second year, Jay-Z dropped down to second after coming first in 2010.
Many of these rappers rose from rags to riches by tirelessly working simultaneously as producers, writers, musicians and businessmen. However, their hard work has quite literally paid off and has made them millions, according to Forbes.
In case you missed it before, below is the FORBES 2012 Top Five Wealthiest Rappers:

1. Sean “Diddy” Combs
As of April 2012, his Net Worth was a cool $550 million.
Earnings according to Forbes: 2011: $35 million, 2010: $30 million
Diddy’s business ventures, along with his career as a rapper, made him the richest rapper on the planet, built fortune chiefly through clothing line Sean John, record label Bad Boy and Ciroc vodka. Acting gigs, television shows and guest appearances add to coffers. He told Forbes in 1999: “I’m gonna be bigger than David Geffen.” Not there yet though, but if there’s anyone who can get there, Diddy can.

2. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter
Net Worth: $460 million – As of April 2012
Earnings according to Forbes: 2011: $37 million, 2010: $63 million
Beyonce’s sweetheart and father of one of the most popular babies in Hollywood, Jay-Z sold Rocawear clothing label for $204 million in 2007; signed 10-year $150 million Live Nation deal in 2008. Now boasts an impressive portfolio, including shares in the New Jersey Nets as well as his input in fashion, music and restaurant business.

3. Andre “Dr. Dre” Young
Net Worth: $260 million – As of April 2012
Earnings according to Forbes: 2011: $14 million, 2010: $17 million
Superproducer/rapper,Dr. Dre may not have put out a new album in the last 10 years, but the rapper and producer has reaped the rewards from his business. He helped launch careers of Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, expanded wealth with Aftermath record label, Beats headphones and HP laptop line. On 11th August 2011, Dr Dre reportedly sold 50% stake in Beats Electronics, the headphone company to Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC for £191 million ($310m).

4. Bryan “Birdman” Williams
Net Worth: $125 million – As of April 2012
May 2010 to May 2011 Earnings according to Forbes: $15 million
Bryan ‘Birdman’ Williams; cofounded Cash Money Records with brother Ronald and inked $30 million distribution deal with Universal in 1998; affiliated Young Money lineup now includes rappers Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. Lyrical boasts (“Richer than the richest!”) are simply not true. Bird has an estimated net worth of $110 million as of September 2011.

5. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson
Net Worth: $110 million – As of April 2012
Earnings according to Forbes: 2010: $6 million, 2009: $8 million
50 cent has made it to the top five particularly for his business-savvy, as the rapper got a neat nine-figure payout from the sales of Vitamin Water, when it was sold to Coca Cola; spent freely on cars, renovations to the mansion formerly owned by Mike Tyson. Cushion remains from catalog, acting gigs and 50 Cent-themed video games, books, clothes and headphones.
They are rappers, but their business acumen is amazing. From their own headphones, booze, clothing lines, sports teams, record labels and album sales, everything these rappers touch turns to gold.
Although Forbes rating was done using the artistes’ net worth as at April, sources say the year couldn’t have ended with another rating as they believe each of the rappers held on to their spots, raking in more millions though. Except Jay-Z hits a mega deal in the remaining days of the year, P Diddy is surely ending the year as the rapper who made dollars the most.

Nigerian rap star nominated for Grammy

Like Sade Adu, Seal, Nas and others before him, Wale Akintehinmiwa is living the American dream. The rapper rode into the American top 10 music charts in 2006 with the song, Dig Dug (Shake It).
Akintehinmiwa is the cousin of Hollywood actor Gbenga Akinnagbe. He was the first mainstream Washington-based artiste to officially crash hulkshare in 20 years. His rap song Breakdown was featured on the video game, Madden NFL 2009.
With regional hits and mixtape albums to his credit, he was signed on to Rick Ross music group and soon after, to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation for management.
Wale recorded his maiden album in Atlanta, Georgia. It features the first smash hit single, Lotus Flower Bomb. He has been nominated for the Soul Train Music Awards, MTV U Woodie Award, BET Hip Hop Awards, which he won early in 2012 for the Best Collaboration title.
The rapper’s style has been described as sharp, witty, and on point by the hip hop family. Little wonder Lotus Flower Bomb, featuring Miguel, was nominated for the Grammy Award in the Best Rap Song category.

The Truth Behind Kim Kardashian’s Pregnancy

The Internet was awash with stories yesterday that reality TV star, Kim Kardashian, was having morning sickness, leading to insinuations she was pregnant with Kanye West’s child.
However, it has emerged that the most popular memeber of the Kardashian clan, might just be suffering from a bout of flu.
“If Kim was pregnant, I would know because Kris [Jenner] would announce it to the world. I know she wasn’t feeling well on Christmas. She had a touch of the flu,” a friend of the Kardashian family revealed exclusively to HollywoodLife.com.
A quick look at Kim’s Twitter timeline, also reveals that she had tweeted about her ill-health on Christmas day, saying:
“Getting the flu on Christmas is no bueno. I hope it passes soon .”
The source also said that if Kim was very eager to become a mother, even if she needed to take fertility pills.
“I do know that Kim wants to be a mom, but she first wants to get married or at least engaged,” the Kardashian family friend said.

Albums, artistes to watch out for in 2013

Dbanj
In less than a year since he parted ways with Mo Hits, the Koko Master has emerged one of Nigeria’s Best music heads. His affiliation with Kanye West’s GOOD Music label, Sony Music Africa/DB Records, and a string of hits which include BachelorTop of the World and CashFlow, are among the most anticipated in the new year.
Banky W
As the head honcho of E.M.E Records, Banky has had a busy year promoting his artistes and finding time to put out some new body of music. Already, his latest singles, Yes/No and Good Good Loving, have given a foretaste of what is to come and expect when his album drops on Valentine’s Day in 2013.
Wande Coal
This Mavin Records artiste has proven to be one of the best Nigerian male vocalists. His most recent singles,Private TripsGo Low and Been Long You Saw Me did not disappoint many of his fans. His album, which has been long in coming, is one of the most anticipated in the industry.
Tiwa Savage
She is a triple threat-singer, songwriter and Marvin Records first lady. Savage ruled the year with her looks, hit songs, stage dexterity and endorsements. Since pitching her tents with the Don Jazzy-led Marvin Records, the dark-skinned singer has promised to put out one of the best albums in the New Year with spanking singles IfeWa GbonaFolarinOma Ga from The Solar Plexus Album.
Waje
It is safe to dream big and that is exactly what WAJE is doing. With plans to start a lingerie line in 2013 and record a duet with American super star, Beyonce, the singer admits that 2012 has been a very busy year for her. So far, she has been able to record two tracks that are well received by music fans in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.
At present, she is working on a new album and it will be due for release soon. But she does not rule out the possibility of a collaborative effort with a well known foreign artiste in her forthcoming album.
Dammy Krane
This 18-year old crowd pleaser, who has been silently plying his trade with his Afro-Pop-Juju style of music, got his big break earlier in the year when he became the first artiste to be signed on to 2face Idibia’s Hypertek Records. After catching the attention of many with his hit single My Dear, Krane is no doubt in a hurry to hit fame land. His remix of PSY’s award winning song, Gangnam Style, had over 796 thousand views on YouTube in a few days and ensured that he doesn’t go unnoticed by industry watchers.
May D
After a well publicised ‘musical union’ that barely lasted a year, he was dumped by Square Records — Psquare’s label. The messy separation in August did not stop May D from picking his acts together almost immediately. His first step was the establishment of his label, Confam Entertainment, the release of chart topping singles, Use Me and Gat Me High. With an expanding fleet of cars and crisp videos to match, his debut album is one to look forward to.
Blessed with a rich pedigree — his grandfather, Benson Idons, once managed the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti — this one time Rhythm 93.7 FM Port-Harcourt Intern has succeeded in proving that he can get the ladies rocking to his mellow tunes. His smash hit, Like to Party, and accompanying video continue to top music charts across the country and is a breath of fresh air. While he is very popular on Twitter, this PH act is sure on his way to winning the hearts of many in the New Year. Since officially breaking into the music industry in 2010 when he moved back to Nigeria from London, 2012 saw him cross over to the Lagos music scene with his mid-tempo Summer Jams.
Iyanya
Undoubtedly one of Nigeria’s most successful reality show products, Iyanya dumped his good boy image this year and settled for a muscular built and tattooed body. This appears to have paid off as his single Kukere has boosted his bank account. With a thriving music career and two controversial actresses, Tonto Dikeh and Yvonne Nelson, ensuring that he is always in the news, the Akwa-Ibom State-born star is not slowing down just yet.
9ice
If street credibility is crucial to keeping an artiste relevant in the Nigerian music scene, then 9ice has got a lot going for him in that regard. Although his position is being threatened by a crop of talented, young acts, the lanky singer still enjoys a large following – what with his rich repertory of Yoruba idioms. As the only Nigerian hip-hop act to have dropped two albums, Versus and Bashorun Gaa, at the same time in 2012, 9ice sure means business. We all await the arrival of CNN and GRA — his next set of albums next year and hope they live up to their billings.

Ten Ways To Become Smarter

The challenges of our world today require a mentally sound and alert mind to survive. We are everyday faced with the need to use wits to win, and only the smart seem to be capable of achieving real success.
You can demand more from your brain. Here are ten of the many ways through which you can increase your brain’s efficiency as you prepare for greater future challenges.

1. Read Faster and Better
Obviously, one of the best ways to boost your intelligence is to read more! You can read faster (and thus consume more knowledge) by getting your speech mechanism out of the equation. So give your mouth something to do, like eating, humming, or chewing gum to get through that stuff quickly. Then, take some time to absorb and reflect on what you read to keep it in your memory. Whether it’s War and Peace or just the Wikipedia Random b*tton, you’ll be surprised by how much more you learn when you’re reading not just fast, but well.

2. Speak Up (and Do It With Expression)
The more you can contribute to a conversation, a meeting, or other discourse, the smarter you’ll come off. Even if it means admitting ignorance or asking questions, you’ll still look better than if you stay silent—and you might actually learn something in the process. Expressive speech is key: you can boost your credibility a lot by simply making sure you speak with an engaging tone. Change your pitch and volume as necessary, and try to minimize the number of pauses as you speak. A little confidence goes a long way.

3. Don’t Fall Prey to BS
When someone’s trying to convince you of something, they can often resort to logical fallacies, appeals to your emotion, and other “workarounds”. Learn the most common forms of BS so you can detect them as they come up. By knowing what they are, you’ll also be able to avoid dishing out those same fallacies yourself, which can be a big hit to your credibility if someone catches you.

4. Focus on What You Know
When engaged in a heated discussion with your friends, you’re bound to stumble upon a few holes in your knowledge. It’s okay to admit when you don’t know something, but if you’re feeling particularly self-conscious and want to keep up the appearance of intelligence, the key is emphasizing what you do know. If you’re in an argument, don’t stress disagreement so much as agreement—that way, you aren’t straying away from things you know about. You’re stressing the parts you do know while still taking part in the discussion.

5. Get Some Exercise
A healthy body means a healthy brain. So, in between all the reading and mind-expanding, make sure you’re leading a healthy physical life, too. That means eating right and getting regular exercise. A number of studies have shown links between regular activity and intellecual capacity, productivity, and creativity. Will spending all day at the gym make you smarter? Not quite, but sitting around all day will not only kill you, but hinder your brain from being at its absolute best.

6. Talk to Yourself
While mumbling to oneself is often looked at the behavior of a crazy person, a recent study showed that talking out loud to yourself can help give you a temporary cognitive boost when trying to find something. The theory behind it: when you give yourself verbal labels to a task you’re performing, you focus better on the task at hand at any given moment. So when you feel the need to open your mouth, don’t fight the urge—it might help you get things done faster.

7. Learn a Second Language
People who know a second or third language are often perceived as smart by others, but research shows that it can actually make you smarter too. If you know a second language, you’re able to adapt to and switch between certain mental tasks better than those that only know one, so if you want to give your brain a real boost, learning a new language is a real (and useful) way to do so.

8. Do Things the Hard Way
Technology really has made our lives easier, but sometimes it is worth doing things the hard way. Take GPS navigation, for example: it’s great that you can essentially never get lost, but if you rely on it too much, you’ll never truly learn your way around. Instead, wean yourself off your GPS dependency and actually learn your way around town, develop a sense of direction, and learn to navigate using your brain. Doing things the hard way can help keep your brain sharp, so don’t be afraid to forgo the easy stuff once in a while.

9. Know What Won’t Make You Smarter
There’s a lot of work going into researching what makes us smarter, much of which we’ve mentioned here; but it’s also important to know what won’t make you smarter.
Here are examples of stubborn brain myths that won’t hurt seeing; “the internet is making us dumber” (it isn’t, if you use it properly), “listening to classical music makes children smarter” (unlikely), or that “brain games make you smarter” (don’t waste your time). The less time you spend on silly myths, the more time you can spend actually expanding your brain, so get these out of your system now.

10. Just Believe You Can Be Smarter
The last step; just believe you can be smarter. Studies have shown that this simple belief can actually make it true. That isn’t to say you should be pompous: you need to assume you aren’t that great yet, which will leave you open to learning new things and asking new questions—the exact sort of things that can make you smarter.
But it’ll never happen if you believe your intelligence is somehow fixed, so once that roadblock is gone, you may find you’re much freer to pursue the level of intelligence you want. If you’re having trouble doing that, it may be time to recalibrate your reality—attitude is everything.

Osaze lacks respect… we can’t continue to babysit him” – Yobo Joseph

Super Eagles player, Yobo Joseph has lashed back at fellow player, Osaze Odemwingie, effectively telling him to grow up.
Odemwingie had severally complained on the social networking site, Twitter, about his non-inclusion in the Super Eagles team blaming the team coach, Stephen Keshi for his woes.
Responding to Odemwingie, Joseph described the player as “reckless and disrespectful.”
Yobo, spoke to a popular sports radio station in Lagos saying, “Osaze has been reckless, disrespectful to most people. He’s not a kid, he should grow up because we cannot continue to baby sit him. He is responsible for his problems.
“This is not the first time he has been disrespectful. He is fighting all the coaches and at the World Cup he also disrespected me and he later apologized.
“He is not the (Lionel) Messi or (Cristiano) Ronaldo of Nigeria. He should look himself in the mirror,” Yobo said.
Yobo reportedly gave credit to the coach for the choice he has so far made for the team.
“I will give him credit for the squad. He will score 95 per cent even though one or two should have been there.
“I’m sure he would have had some sleepless nights in selecting his team. Kalu Uche, Martins, Taye and Osaze not being there was a surprise but the coach must have his reasons and he cannot call everybody.

Tonto Dikeh is the most controversial actress who rocked Nollywood in the outgoing year

A product of Next Movie Star, Tonto Dikeh since she hit the limelight few years ago has never seized to be at the centre of controversy. The outgoing year is no different.
Her controversial lifestyle became more glaring this year judging from most of her unbecoming exploits. After the noise generated by her new tattoo last year, Tonto continued with her ‘wild lifestyle’,stepping on people’s toes and damning her critics. Her newly released singles, Hi and Itz Ova, did not help matters even though the singles became two of the most listened and downloaded tracks, with over 500,000 views.
Dikeh, who joined the bandwagon of other actors who succumbed to the moonlighting itch to delve into music, was lampooned and criticised by her fans for the uninspiring singles. Yet, she was not deterred. While she was battling to find her feet in the music circle, her foes romantically linked her to the Kukere crooner, Iyanya who squealers said was seeing Ghanaian leggy actress, Yvonne Nelson. For Iyanya and Tonto Dikeh it was all about who has left who for who.
However, this whole saga began when Yvonne Nelson took to the internet to vent her feelings after Iyanya dumped her for Tonto Dikeh. The drama continued unabated until Tonto Dikeh replied Yvonne’s tweet and the two actresses took their rivalry to Blackberry messenger (BBM) where they threw ‘nasty’ insults at each other.

D’Banj Disgraces Self With Flopped Koko Concert…Angry Fans React On Social Media

Even the most optimistic of people who attended the Koko Concert at the ‘Eko Atlantic City’ on December 27, 2012 left the venue fuming or physically too tired to react to the poor turnout of events that took place at the new Eko Atlantic City, off Amadu Bello, Victoria Island due to distance. Everybody had to park their cars some kilometers away to trek down to the venue.
Shortly after the show, the Micro-blogging site, Twitter, was agog with criticism of the end of the year concert by popular Afro pop musician, D’banj, tagged Koko Concert held at the Eko Atlantic Beach, Lagos. With the hype and razzmatazz displayed before the show, one would never believe that the show would end up a flop.
Many of Dbanj’s frustrated fans who took to twitter to vent their anger described the concert as lackluster and ill-managed.
In the past weeks, the concert has enjoyed a lot of hype in the media and was one of the most expensive musical concerts in the country. Some fans paid as much as N1 million to attend the concert which also has Hollywood actor Idris Elba; America rappers, Pusha T and Big Sean; as well as Nigerian-born British rapper Tinnie Tempah; on parade.
Fans were particularly disappointed by Dbanj’s performance. Many of them who went to the concert hoping to hear him perform some of his popular tunes were heartbroken as the musician chose to perform his most recent tunes that many have problems relating to.
These are some of the things the angry fans tweeted:
“Dbanj does not have any song to sing.. Terrible. Let tomorrow come first,” said a fan tweeting from the handle @RicDizZle.
“Sing Suddenly or Mogbonofelifeli if you know say e sure for you!” @RicDizZle continued referring to some the musician’s popular tunes.
Dbanj, who is used to a mimed performance, had problems adjusting to performing to a live band, some attendees said.
“I think Dbanj is the worst performer of the night #kokoconcert. Easier to perform with a CD. Live performance no be beans [not easy],”said a fan tweeting from the handle @ebraheemshehu
“I have a lot of respect for #Nigerian artistes who perform with a live band but i don’t think #Dbanj killed it today. #kokoconcert,” said Fidelis Mbah, a reporter with the BBC.
“That’s not a live band, just a bunch of confused electricians,” said another fan tweeting from the handle @TheBlackHermit.
D’BANJ INSULTS FANS
Despite the problems encounter before getting to the show venue, D’banj who recently put up a flopped show on the Island recently was said to have insulted his fans. His woeful performance aside, many of fans, who stayed awake all night to see him perform at the concert and those watching the live stream of the event on NdaniTV, said Dbanj’s worst blunder of the night was when he said: “The people wey pay me money na dis side dem dey” (those that paid me are on this side) while apologising to those at the VVIP section of the concert for below-par arrangement made for them.
At a point he even asked those at the popular and VIP sections to apologise to those at the VVIP for the inconvenience they suffered. Fans at the popular section and VIP paid 5,000 and 20,000 respectively. Many of his fans who felt insulted reacted sharply:
“Disgusting that he only keeps apologising to VVIP. The 5K ticket holders are the real fans and the ones promoting his music . Shame,” said a fan tweeting from @Rebl_jade.
“Dbanj needs to stop acting the fool with this VVIP thing. So rude!” said @EniolaHundeyin
“And he had the nerve to ask the 5k & 20k people to aplogise to the VVIPs. I say it, the concert was an allegory for Nigeria as a whole,”said Tola Sarumi tweeting from @AfroVII.
“Only in naija (Nigeria) you pay for something and STILL get insulted. Customer appreciation? Absolute zero,” said a fan tweeting from @kennagq
“Call me a hater but Dbanj is too big of an artist to be putting out mediocre shows like that!! #kokoconcert,” said @natashamutale
“This guy better not be planning to drop any album soon. People will refuse to even bootleg it,” said Tome Buluku tweeting from the handle @IamTome.
“There’s def no koko concert next year sha. Not with this crap,” said Yemi O tweeting with the handle @mimio193
“D’Banj speaks like Igbo man from Iweka Road now,” said Onyeka Nwelue.
“@iamdbanj sold more VIP & VVIP tickets than d no of seats available..we had to hustle for seats..pathetic,” said Tokunbo Otitoju tweeting from the handle@fimiletoks
“In Koko Concert, Money can’t buy class. LOL. 1M for table no mean you no go do endurance trek to and fro,” said @Shimoshi1.

Mixed Reactions Trail Dbanj’s Koko Concert+Comments That Will Make You Laugh

The 2012 Edition of the Koko Concert which took place last night in Eko Atlantic City in Lagos state has come and gone – it was arguably the most hyped and anticipated show of the year with a star-studded cast of musical acts and what’s moe, it was hosted by Idris Elba.
However, the concert has generated a whole lot of debate as Nigerians especially those who attended the show, have blasted the organizers for making them trek long and tortuous distances at that time of the night and for starting behind schedule.
Moreso, there are allegations that Dbanj was rude to his fans when he reportedly showed preferential treatment to guests at the VIP and those who paid for tables as against the regulars who coughed out N5,000.
I have had a great laugh reading through most of the comments on Twitter regarding the Koko concert and by the way, #KokoConcert is now trending on Twitter while Dbanj is now the most followed celebrity in Nigeria with 495, 702 followers as at the time of this report – that position was initially held by Don Jazzy.
What do you think about the show?

Nollywood Actress, Halima Abubakar Stunning In 2012 ‘Look Book’

Earlier in the year, when celebrities from the Nigerian movie and music scene flooded the media with different look books and photo shoots, one that was conspicuously missing was actress, Halimat Abubakar.

Dr Adeleke Provides Private Jet For Davido’s Accra, Lagos Shows In One Night

It is no longer news that Davido is a teen superstar in his own right and neither is it news that his father is a billionaire and supports his music. But what you may not know is Davido’s father, Dr Deji Adeleke, is so interested in his son’s music career that he will do whatever it takes to ensure the popstar honours his contract obligation with show promoters/organizers.
If you recall, yesterday, 27th December, was the much anticipated day for the annual Koko concert in Eko Atlantic City Lagos, organized by Dbanj and Davido was billed to perform there alongside other superstars. But it was a tricky situation for the young singer because he also had a show billed for the same night in Accra Ghana – he had to perform at both shows only if the venues were in the same city.
Enter Dr Adeleke. To save his son the stress of long queues, security and flight schedules and even delays associated with commercial flights, Davido’s father leased a private jet, for his last son so he could easily perform in two different countries in one night.
And this piece of information was revealed by none other than friend of the Adelekes and renowned publisher/journalist, Dr Dele Momodu, in a tweet. He wrote: “Dele Momodu Ovation @DeleMomodu Davido’ Dad Dr Adeleke is a gentleman. Davido is performing in Accra tonite & he wants his son to play at Koko concert. He provided a jet!”
