A police officer in New York had no idea what he is getting himself into when he stopped a woman in Staten Island.
The Staten Island woman bit the face of a police officer after being arrested for driving without a license, authorities said.
The bloody encounter occurred after Amanda Diaz, 27, was arrested near Mosel Avenue and Clove Road in Grasmere, where police saw her driving erratically at about 5 pm prosecutors said. Police arrested Diaz, of West Brighton, after she was driving her 1998 Nissan Maxima around 5 mph and swerved into oncoming traffic, according to court documents.
The officers found that her license had been revoked for failure to pay at least three previous violations, records show. Diaz went crazy and started waving her arms as she cursed the officers when they tried to handcuff her, the court papers show.
“Once inside the police car, Diaz bit one of the officers in the face, causing the skin to rip off,” according to court documents. The officer was treated at a nearby hospital and later released.
Diaz was booked on a number of charges including assault, resisting arrest, reckless driving and driving without a license. She was released on $5,000 bail.
