2014: Dubai all set to break yet another world record

2014: Dubai all set to break yet another world record

Dubai fireworks
Dubai: Palm Jumeirah, the World Islands, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Festival city will put up a combined showed of fireworks tonight, celebrating a landmark year for the country that included winning the hosting rights for the World Expo 2020.
The staggering display of fireworks will include a world record attempt that will see 400,000 shots fired in the sky from 400 locations on the Palm island and the islands of The World.
It will just take 60 seconds for 200 pyrotechnicians in Dubai to break the world record for the largest fireworks display.

The show, designed by US-based “Fireworks by Grucci,” will begin with a “Flying Falcon” doing rounds of The World islands, leading the countdown for the New Year spectacle.
The display will include never seen before elements like a 225-metre wide and 130-metre high UAE flag, conjured through fireworks and special effects that will adorn the Dubai sky. The flag will be another world record attempt for the largest pyrotechnic flag ever.
The six-minute pyrotechnics, synchronised to breathtaking music, will culminate in the final salvo of fireworks that will conjure up a “Sunrise” scene, lighting up the skies for around 10 kilometres.
The show will be breaking the current Guinness World Record for the largest display of fireworks held by Kuwait, with 77,282 shots of fireworks spread across five kilometres and lasted for 64 minutes.
Though the Dubai show will last for only six minutes, but it will be spread across an area of 100 kilometres.
At least 450,000 explosive shells, connected to a network of more than 100 computers, will be used to put up the show.
Firework displays will also light up other landmarks of the city, including Madinat Jumeriah, Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Festival City.
Here are the best locations you can watch the fireworks from:
Burj Khalifa
Dubai Mall — If you can make it early, there is no better place to watch the fireworks from. The Burj Boulevard, Burj Park or the Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard are the good locations to watch the fireworks at the world’s tallest tower.
The pyrotechnics can also be enjoyed from Shaikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Al Meydan road and Safa Park and Al Safa area.
Palm Jumeirah
Palm Jumeirah and the World Islands will be the best places to watch the world’s largest fireworks from. However, given that the area will be restricted to residents and ticket holders of the Sandance Music festival, the alternative locations would be Jumeirah Beach Residence, Umm Suqueim Beach and Jumeirah Beach.
Dubai Festival City
Dubai Creek, Al Garhoud Area and the Business Bay area would be ideal locations to enjoy the fireworks at the Dubai Festival City

Genevieve, D’banj in love again; already talking about marriage

Genevieve, D’banj in love again; already talking about marriage

dbanj and genevieve1Recent media reports have it that Nollywood screen goddess Genevieve Nnaji and Kokomaster D’banj and are back together in a love relationship.
Blogger Linda Ikeji is reporting that as you read this Genevieve is all comfy in the ‘Oliver Twist’ hit maker Lekki home and are talking marriage.
Read what Linder wrote about Kokomaster and Genevieve:
This is not rumour o…it’s fact. The Kokomaster, 33, and Nigerian screen goddess Genevieve Nnaji, 34, are back together two years after they parted ways and this is a LIB exclusive. Genny is currently staying at D’banj’s Lekki home, and I hear they are already talking marriage. Yes I said marriage. Don’t know if it will happen, but they are currently talking about it, so in case it happens, remember y’all read it here first. *Wink*.
The loved up couple dated on and off from 2009 to 2011 before Genevieve broke off the relationship because of D’banj’s commitment issues. Hope it works out for them this time around!
In 2011, after months of denial from both sides, it was eventually determined that D’banj and Genevieve had been in a secret relationship since 2009. It was wonderful news and just as everyone celebrated it, Genny dropped the bomb, she called off the relationship in March, leaving the kokomaster alongside millions of their fans heart-broken.
D’banj had gone on to repeatedly make it clear in published interviews that he is still bonkers for Genevieve. He never really got over her.
This is where skeptics come in. Genny had called off the relationship following alleged commitment issues from D’banj… He had a career spiraling to the skies and needed to be away a lot, hence the alleged reluctance to settle down, ‘what makes it different this time?’ they ask.
But D’banj and Genevieve have the backing of fans. If this story is true, everyone hopes (prays) things work out for them this time.
They are not the only ones webbed in love tales. with 2014 less than 24 hours away, another celebrity has given hint on social media that marriage would definitely happen in the new year.

Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye, elder brother to the P Square twins.

Lmao of the Day: Open Letter to Headies 2013 Oranizers Part 1 (Must Read)

Lmao of the Day: Open Letter to Headies 2013 Oranizers Part 1 (Must Read)

Dear headies 2013 organizers,

Let me start by saying i am not just disappointed in you but u have just proved to us that Nigeria is not getting better any time soon . you have been manipulated by a greedy and hopeless telecommunications company ( mtn) because they sponsored your event and you forgot the ultimate rule that awards are meant to be impartial and should be decided by the general public especially when u told us to vote . you distributed the awards among 4 mtn ambassadors ( iyanya , davido , praiz , and kcee ) and just 1 glo ambassador won ( waje ) . Is that not politics or is it coincidence? Now let us analyze. The headies 2013 was a flop , your stage was shaped like a models runway , the choreographers just lacked ideas and didn ’ t interpret the music , i have seen a better performance from Nigeria’ s got talent. What was the gulder ultimate search theme song that was being played throughout the event ?
Continue..
Who on earth uses the mavin slaves - dr sit and tiwa gabbage as presenters of an event ? Oh I forgot , the awards lacked credibility and substance. Why did majority of the winners come from backstage , instead of coming from the crowd like it should be ? I watched nickelodeon kids choice awards this year and it is far better than the over hyped headies which was not properly planned and hurriedly done # shame Can you explain to us how olamide won best rap album? olamide has commercialized rap , we cannot tell if he is a rapper or a singer. As far as i am concerned , he is just an entertainer like dbanj . so where does vector, phyno, reminisce, ice prince and illbliss who represent real hip hop/ rap stand? Don’ t forget that there is a big difference between commercial rap and real rap . all he sings about is remind us that he is from the street but to be sincere terry g is more
street than olamide and terry is not even a rapper #justsaying How can harry song win most mtn most downloaded caller tune song for rip Mandela? when did Mandela die and do u want to compare that dead song with other club bangers in the same category ? Simple , it is because harrysong is a label mate to your mtn ambassador (kcee ) . In my opinion jawon , waje ,2 face , Clarence peters , blackmagic and davido deserved there awards. how can wizkid not win any award ? Someone who has been the most consistent and sought after this year . i am sure wizkid declined an interview from you that ’ s why he didn ' t win. in fact wizzy should be the artiste of the year . Why did dbanj, burnaboy , wandecoal , psquare, flavour not win
anything? oh i know why, it is because they are Glo ambassadors.
Now explain to me why Sean tizzle won the next rated award and he was in the same category as burna boy
who is obviously more relevant and talented . We all know Sean tizzle has the same old boring style and
we can always predict his next song . Phyno too deserved the next rated award and how on planet earth did d- tunes win producer of the year ? Someone who recycled 1 beat 5 times ( kukere, your waist , mama
eh, lenu by spicy , kilogbe) . so where does ace producer del b that produced the national anthem limpopo stand ? You are all insane!!!!!!
Infact, headies, mtn and Pdp should merge and start a new political party for the upcoming election in 2015  it should be named mhdp ( mtn headies democratic party) . we all know exactly what happened , mtn agreed to sponsor your event and they gave you the list of who should win. our votes did not count ; do
you think we are blind and foolish like yourself? Instead of your greedy mtn sponsors to improve their network, reduce tariffs and contribute to the growth of the nation, they will be sending me sms on how they gave free ipad and mp3 to those who sent a sms to a code . They spend all their time looking for how to extort customers and scam us with their ridiculous offers ( free airplane and a trip to the moon )
i am sorry to say sir but if u continues this way your company will fold up and collapse because you are not an epitome of integrity . i am speaking on behalf of majority of Nigerians who know the truth and are not afraid to say it . those who feel this letter is nonsense should not forget to curse , insult and threaten me on @ baddestdjtimmy. after my last 2 open letters, i have been insulted , chewed up, spit out, as being very jobless, hopeless and a broke laptop dj. you guys don’ t know how much i love the insults so it means i am doing a good job and it makes me stronger . So in conclusion , if u have the opportunity to host another award show , learn from your mistakes and let our votes count this time . Let those who deserve it win, is that too much to ask?

Well, we cant help but post this....drop your comment freely.

PHOTOS: Can You Believe Who The 12 Biggest Nigerian Artistes Of 2013 Are?

2013 was a very big year for Nigerian music and quite a number of artistes lived up to expectation. We’re talking sold-out shows, monster singles, European tours and endorsement deals.
Check out the NET's 12 biggest artistes of 2013.
1. Wizkid
After battling his label EME for a few months and setting up his StarBoy Entertainment, Wizkid quieted label exit rumours and released a number of chart-topping singles. He bagged a multi-million Naira endorsement deal with MTN and performed in Europe and several African countries.
photo
2. Davido
O.B.O cemented his position as an A-list act covering the gap between him and friendly rival Wizkid. Extending his endorsement deal with MTN, the 21-year-old went on a 13-country European tour, performed in 5 African countries and dropped two of the biggest singles of 2013.
photo
3. Psquare
No album release this year, but Psquare dominated with two powerful singles ‘Alingo’ and ‘Personally’. The twins went on a US tour and visited quite a number of African countries. They also made big news as they both proposed to their baby mamas with Peter tying the knot in November.
photo
4. Tiwa Savage
Definitely the biggest female artiste in Nigeria in the last three years, Ms Savage released her hugely anticipated debut ‘Once Upon a Time’, extended her Pepsi endorsement deal, picked up a MOBO nomination and got married to her manager Tunji ‘Tee-Billz’ Balogun.
photo
5. D’banj
Banga Lee with his newly setup DB Records/DKM Media continued his reign as king this year – releasing the label’s first LP, bagging endorsement deals with Bank of Industry and re-kindling his romance with GLO.
photo
6. Iyanya
The Pop singer released his highly commercial and successful second album ‘Iyanya VS Desire’, embarked on a very successful US tour, returned and bagged an endorsement deal with MTN, Solo Phones, Zinox Computers. He was named artiste of the year at the 2013 Headies, amongst many other decorations this year.
photo
7. Olamide
If all Olamide gained in 2012 was fame, in 2013 he added money and the power of influence to it. The Yoruba-lingo rapper broke into the commercial market with a few power singles and later dropped his third album ‘Baddest Guy Ever Liveth’. He grabbed an Etisalat endorsement deal, dozens of awards – including three from The Headies. Add to that, the  viral Gunman pose.
photo
8. Flavour
Mr N’abania also went on a US tour as he continued to dominate the Highlife music genre in Nigeria and elsewhere. He increased his frontiers in South Africa and also bagged an endorsement deal with GLO.
photo
9. KCEE
2013 saw KCEE perform at almost every event we attended. He has cemented his place in the A-list zone with hit singles ‘Limpopo’ and ‘Pullover’ feat Wizkid. He signed a multi-million Naira deal with MTN and then released his debut solo album ‘Take Over’.
photo
10. Femi Kuti
Getting his fourth Grammy Awards nomination is enough for Afrobeat great Femi Kuti to be listed here. But we’ll still tell you that ‘Shoki Shoki’ finally warmed up to mainstream media, performing at quite a number of upscale events including ‘Night of the Masters’ and ‘Music Meets Runway’.
photo
11. Ice Prince
It was a fantastic year for Ice Prince, following his successful 2012 run. Dropping new singles, performing in several African countries, releasing his second album ‘Fire of Zamani’ and bagging a telecoms deal withEtisalat are what made him the hottest rapper in 2013.
photo
12. 2face Idibia
No new music this year but we couldn’t help but keep a tab on 2face Idibia, thanks to his N100m grand wedding. The artiste kept it smoking hot, going on a ‘2face Campus Tour’ and signing on for the Star Trek concert tour. Idibia made a power move few weeks back when he announced his rebranded label Hypertek Digital, with the legendary Victor Uwaifo as one of his signings.
