Shakira's Ex Boyfriend Sued Her For $250 Million Dollars

Her hips don’t lie, but her ex-boyfriend is a different story.

Shakira is calling out the former flame who’s suing her for $250 million — lambasting his claim that he’s responsible for her success and asking a judge to throw his case out.

Antonio de la Rua has been waging an international war against his ex, saying he shaped the “Shakira brand,” was responsible for two of her biggest hits — “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Waka Waka” — and that she still owes him big time.

In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, the sexy judge from “The Voice” says she’s a self-made woman, and that he should get over himself — and her.

Shakira, 36, says in an affidavit when she first met de la Rua at a concert in Argentina in 2000, “I was already a well-known and recognized artist, and my international career was established and solid.”

And the Colombian singer shrugged off claims that he was her business partner and strategist, saying she just hired him out of pity.

The dashing de la Rua was just “one of my numerous advisers,” she said in the court filing.

Even “though he lacked experience or knowledge of the music industry,” Shakira said, “in 2005, at his request, I decided to involve (de la Rua) in some matters relating to the business” because he “was unemployed.”

The pair had been dating for a year when de la Rua first fell on hard times and moved in with her.

When de la Rua’s father “was forced to resign as president of Argentina at the end of 2001, plaintiff, for his own safety, became self-exiled from Argentina and he became unemployed,” Shakira said.

De la Rua maintains he was the one doing her a favor. He says he had been advising her throughout their relationship and offered to use his background in law, “marketing, brand-building and political campaign management” in a more active way after her successful 2004 tour somehow lost money.

He said he talked her into recording “Hips Don’t Lie,” which she initially “hated,” and orchestrated her $300 million deal with Live Nation in 2008.

He also says he “inspired” her to write the song “Waka Waka” with a recording he had made of African-inspired Colombian music, and was the one who successfully campaigned for it to be the anthem of the 2010 World Cup.

He says he continued to manage her business even after they broke up in 2010, until she gave him the heave-ho a year later. He suspects she only did so because their partnership was creating problems with her new man, Barcelona soccer star Gerard Piqué.

The spurned ex has since filed actions against her in New York, California, Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, charging that she still owes him his share of her profits.

Shakira — who had a baby with Piqué earlier this year — filed suit against de la Rua in the Bahamas last year, charging that he had “misappropriated” $3 million of her money.

Her lawyers contend that de la Rua doesn’t have a case because they don’t have any business or partnership agreements in writing. Their filings also say the case shouldn’t be fought in New York — it should be heard in the Bahamas, where they lived together, or in Colombia, where Shakira is from and where de la Rua has been spending time with his soon-to-be baby mama, former Miss Mundo Colombia, Daniela Ramos.

“We just want to have our day in court and it’s apparent that they don’t,” said de la Rua’s lawyer, Bill Reid.

A lawyer for Shakira did not return a call for comment.

 

Possessed?? Dad beats One Year Old Baby to death

A Florida dad beat his one-year-old baby daughter to death after burning her feet with cigars because he felt "relieved" when causing another person pain, police said.

Rony Veus, 23, is accused of throwing tiny Honey to the floor, pulling her hair, throwing her on the bed and forcing her to eat cinnamon as part of a sickening campaign of abuse.

Cops were called to his Apopka home on Thursday after she was found unconscious.

She was rushed to the hospital and, suffering from bleeding on the brain, remained in a coma for three days. She died on Saturday.

Doctors, suspecting she had been abused, contacted the police.

Veus was initially arrested on charges of aggravated battery on a child, but they have now been upgraded to murder.

He reportedly confessed to officers about what he had done, reports Click Orlando.

Veus is said to have told detectives that he "felt relieved" when causing her pain or discomfort. He also said he fantasized about harming her.

Couple arrested for suffocating crying baby so they could have sèx

A Chicago couple smothered their crying daughter unconscious before dumping her limp body back into her playpen so they could have sex, police claim.

Rodrigo Rodriguez, 29, is accused of covering 5-month-old Angelina's mouth with his hand three times on Thursday night as her mom, 21-year-old Angela Petrov, looked on.

The pair, who were reportedly drinking Hennessy, then allegedly went to the bedroom of their West Rogers Park apartment and had sex before falling asleep.

Cops claim Petrov woke up at 7 a.m. on Friday to prepare and older child for school — but went back to bed without checking on the younger infant.

She finally got up, with Rodriguez, at 11 a.m. — when she noticed the girl was "stiff and unresponsive."

They performed CPR and threw water on her face to try and wake her. But nothing worked, so Petrov dialed 911.

The baby was initially taken to Saint Francis Hospital, before being transferred to Lurie Children's Hospital, where she later died.

Medics said a lack of oxygen had seen her brain swell. She also had a "blown pupil" and a skull fracture from a previous incident.

Her parents were arrested late on Friday and have each been charged with aggravated battery to a child, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

The couple's other children are now being looked after by family members, said Illinois Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Dave Clarkin.

Clarkin also revealed that the couple were already under investigation for other abuse allegations involving another child.

Cook County Judge James Brown ordered both parents to be held in lieu of $5 million bail on Sunday.

Mourinho Finally Accepts To Be Chelsea Manager

The wait is over, after months of speculation, Jose Mourinho has agreed to return to the Chelsea hot-seat next season according to the Daily Star.

And the current Real Madrid manager has already drawn up a list of transfer targets to help the Blues return to the top of the Premier League – headlined by strikers Hulk and Radamel Falcao.

According to the reports, Mourinho will return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season on a salary that more than matches his current £12 million-a-year package at Madrid. But the 50-year-old realises Chelsea need some extra firepower to compete against the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and emerging powerhouse Tottenham.

Mourinho is a big admirer of Hulk while Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao has long been rumoured with a move to London.

The news may just reinforce Romelu Lukaku’s desire to seek another loan move away from the club next season, with the Mirror reporting the teenager, currently plying his trade with West Brom, has asked Blues officials to secure him another stint in the Premier League. And with European football on his mind, a move to the Capital One champions, Swansea, is on the cards.

Husband, Mother-In-Law Arrested For Wife’s Murder

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old man, Isaac Ajisegiri, for the alleged murder of his wife, Endurance.

Also arrested are  his mother, Florence, and  sister, Esther.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Endurance was killed at her home located at 1 Ajani Salawu Street, Shasha, Lagos,  on Saturday.

Police authorities said she was slit in the throat with a knife in her  kitchen.

The victim’s brother, Caleb Agbobonye, told our correspondent that the marriage was fraught with problems before  the couple   reconciled recently.

He said, “They have been married for about four years and they had a child together. They also run an education consulting firm not too far from their house.

“Problem started after Isaac was accused of having an affair with one of their employees. They fought over the issue for quite some time. She even moved out of the house but they later reconciled.

“On Saturday, one Stanley, who happens to be Isaac’s friend, came to pick her (Endurance) from the office, saying her husband’s family were waiting for her at the house to  resolve a dispute.”

Agbobonye  said on Sunday morning, Stanley called Endurance’s relatives informing them that she was dead and that her body  had been taken to Crystal Hospital.

Our correspondent, who visited the couple’s home, learnt that the matter was reported at Shasha Police Division on Sunday.

Some neighbours said on  the condition of anonymity reported the case to the police.

Asked if the couple had a history of domestic violence, one of the neighbours said, “There are four flats in this compound and we all mind our own business.

“We don’t know if they fight. All we know is that we saw the family carrying her corpse and we observed that her neck was slit so we went to report at the police station.”

At  the station, policemen on duty said the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

When our correspondent visited the Homicide Department of the SCID, the suspects were seen writing statements.

Isaac however told PUNCH Metro that his wife killed herself with the knife.

The indigene of Kogi State said on the day of the incident, she was acting crazy and would not listen to pleas from the family.

Esther and Florence however did not speak as they looked dumbfounded.

Police sources told our correspondent that investigations were ongoing, adding that Stanley was at large.

Director, Project Alert on Violence Against Women, Dr. Josephine Effah-Chukwumah, told our correspondent that her agency had taken up the case.

Effah-Chukwumah lamented that violent crime being perpetuated against women had risen in recent times and said it was time people were more involved in fighting the menace.

She said, “Marriage is not a do-or-die affair. Anyone who is in  an abusive relationship should feel free to walk  out. The neighbours and the police also need to be more involved in this battle so that we can prevent deaths or harm to people.”

The ''Ginjah Master'' Terry G Speaks On Fatherhood, How It Has Made Him More Responsible And Tamed H

Terry G A.K.A 'Ginjah' or 'Spiritual', the Prolific singer and producer of hit songs like ''Ginger Your Swagger'' speaks on fatherhood. He says fatherhood has changed a whole about him, it has made him more coordinated ,given him a wider view of life and he also said that he has to be more responsible so that his son can be proud of who he is.

When asked if he wanted his son to become a musician like him, he simply responded that he would love him to become a footballer because that was what he wanted for himself but he had no sponsors then so he diverted into music. He said he would go to any length to sponsor his son so he could become one of the greatest footballers to walk the face of the earth.

On his new album titled ''Book Of Ginjah'', he says it has eighteen chapters. He called his 'chapters' instead of tracks. Every chapter shows what he is capable of doing different scopes of music. The album also has 'love songs' on it of which he has done a video of one.

What was the experience like on the set of the movie Turning Point?

It was a mind blowing and bonding experience for me. I had an amazing time working with all the international stars and my other humble colleagues. We were all like a family on set. Even the director was so soft spoken, cooperative and accommodating. I learnt a lot from his mode of directing which I will put into practice in the near future. I wish such projects will continue to come my way.

What made you accept the role?

The script was an amazing one and the fact that my character was a controversial one in the movie made me accept the role. And with such a wonderful cast and a whooping sum (smiles) who won't accept the role?

Was it a challenging experience trying to fit into your role?

All the characters I've been able to bring to life have all been challenging and likewise my role in the movie Turning Point. My role in the movie was a hectic one; I took up the role of a 'ghetto fabulous' lady that lives in the US after relocating from Nigeria in search of greener pastures. The character entangles her in all sorts of deals and businesses not minding whose toes she steps on to make a living. All she cares about is to put food on her table either by hook or crook. The character was of course challenging and I look forward to such roles in the future.

Was it hectic moving from Africa to America trying to shoot scenes of the movie?

It wasn't hectic at all moving around but certainly it was hectic arriving and being rushed off to set that same minute from the airport. Not having a shower or a bite or even time to do a run down through the script to shoot a scene. Gosh! I felt like screaming but it's all part of the job and we are used to all the numerous challenges that come with it.

What do you think is the significance of the movie?

I took home a lot from the movie; I learnt that humility goes a longer way than pride. I learnt never to underestimate the power of a woman, never to involve a third party when you are having issues in your marriage and the consequences of greed. I also learnt that life in its fullness is like a clock that rotates, so in our best interest, one should always live a straight forward life to avoid complications. One also has to be nice to people you meet on your way up because you never can tell who you'll meet on your way down.

Do you consider yourself as an accomplished actress?

Do I consider myself as an accomplished actress? I would say I am happy and I thank God that I accomplished my dream of becoming an actress and improving in my skills, but seeing myself an accomplished actress? Not yet, because there's still a lot undone that must be done by God's grace. Only then will I be able to consider myself as an accomplished actress.

Do you think you are one of the most misunderstood actresses on the scene?

I am kind of misunderstood at times but that notwithstanding, in life one is misunderstood to be understood. Sometimes somethings are meant to be that way. I won't be the first nor will I be the last.

Do you every now and then watch movies that you have featured in?

I do that all the time. I watch my movies and it's mostly on weekends. I am also a critic of my movies too.

What is it like being a mother?

No doubt being a mother is no child's play but it takes patience, love and care and most especially in the midst of all, being a mother gives one an unexplainable joy inside of you.

How close are you to your kids?

I am very close to my kids. I am their mother and it is expected that I am close to them at least.

How tasking is it being a mother, an actress and a wife?

It is tasking I must confess but at the same time it is a fulfilling and satisfying feeling when everything is being put in its place. I put my 100% attention to my family and my career. It's pretty difficult at some point but I have been able to put all in line and fill up the margin by striking up a balance in my home and place of work. I don't want either part to suffer. It all has to do with planning.

Would you allow any of your kids to venture into acting?

Well, that depends on the child; if that's what he or she wants. I would support and give useful advise where needed to any of my kids that want to venture into acting. Acting is a noble profession.

What have you been working on in recent times?

I have been spending time visiting the less-privileged homes and schools where I try to meet up with their needs in my own little way. Holding seminars on the importance of education but I won't forget to mention that I have just set up my non-governmental organisation which is known as Positive Life for Children Foundation (PLCF). The foundation is built on the growth and hope of children. It is aimed at stimulating and encouraging their mental activity. It is about placing priority on the issue of brilliant but less-privileged children and children with special needs anywhere in Africa.

How many movies have you been part of in recent times?

I have really and truly lost count of that. I have featured in scores of movies and I can't start mentioning them one at a time. If you consider the year I started acting you will sum up that I have featured in a lot of movies but I can't count how many movies I have featured in, even in recent times.

Is the movie Sister Mary one of the most memorable films you have been part of?

You bring back fond memories with that question. Yes, Sister Mary is one of the most memorable films I've been part of because it's my first lead role in the industry from the stables of Great Movies Production. The feeling was overwhelming; that was where it all started for me and I am really grateful for having such an opportunity.

How did you feel when you got the role?

I was so excited that I got the role eventually and at the same time so uneasy out of tension. It was my first time and I wanted to make a lasting impression. I did in the end and the rest as they say is history.
