See Why Will Smith Turned Down A Role In The Movie ‘Django Unchained’

When Quentin Tarantino’s western revenge-fantasy “Django Unchained” was first announced, casting rumors pegged Will Smith as the titular slave-turned-vigilante.
But Smith, who teams with his son Jaden in this summer’s sci-fi epic “After Earth,” tells EW that he turned down the part because his character would’ve been second fiddle to the bounty hunter (played by Christoph Waltz) who teaches Django his trade.
“Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead!” says the “Men in Black” star, whose departure opened the door for Jamie Foxx to play the role.
Smith says that before he left the project, he even pleaded with Tarantino to let Django have a more central role in the story.

“I was like, ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!’” (Ironically, Waltz was considered a supporting actor during his Oscar-winning award season, while Jamie Foxx was promoted as the movie’s lead.)
But no hard feelings: Smith was a big fan of the final product. “I thought it was brilliant,” he says. “Just not for me.

Susan Peters Struggles To Remain Relevant, Why She Frequents Events Lately

Though the name Susan Peters may not be too popular to an average Nollywood lover, but that cannot be said about those who are conversant with entertainment events in the industry. This is because the beautiful actress frequents entertainment events both in Nigeria and abroad.

Susan never missed out in any top class event that holds regularly all over the country. If she is not at such event, then it means she is out of the country for another event.

Sources divulged that the Idoma, Benue State-born actress does this so that she can be relevant in the industry. As we were told, her fortune is gradually nose-diving and she needs to show her face at events so that she could go back into reckoning. Sources swore that she is not frequent in movies like she used to do, especially after pitching tent with Emem Isong's caucus in Nollywood.

Our sources said that producers rarely call her for jobs these days, and this has become a worrying factor for her. In a bid to keep her brand in peoples' mind, she decided to frequent entertainment events, which make her still relevant anytime the video of such an event is made public.

Sources further said this was a well calculated move by the actress and that it is gradually paying off for her. The sources claimed that though Susan hasn't done many lead roles in movies, she is still a subject of discussion in the media.

2-year-Old Boy Killed by Pit Bull Inside His Home

The toddler was attacked around 1 p.m. inside his Sierra Trail townhome. The boy’s mother was using the restroom when the attack occurred. “She advised it happened fast,” Fulton County Police Detective Melissa Parker told the AJC. “It was an obvious death once the mother came out of the restroom.”

A neighbor, Joseph Messam, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution he heard screams. When he went outside he saw his neighbor lying on the ground screaming, “‘The dog killed the baby! The dog killed the baby.’ That’s what I heard her say.”
As police investigated the scene, the dog remained in a contained area inside the home. The dog had been the family pet for 8 years, according to Detective Parker.
“The breed, we believe, is a pit bull,” Oliver Delk, administrator for Fulton County animal services, told reporters at the scene. “We don’t know what made it attack the child as it did,” Delk said.
Animal Control employees arrived on the scene around 3pm, and transported the dog to a shelter for evaluation. The dog’s fate is not known.

Young mother arrested because her children missed school

A young mother was jailed after her children missed several days at school, according to reports.

A California mother was sentenced to 180 days in jail after pleading guilty to allowing her children to miss more than 10 percent of school last year, according to reports.

Lorena Cuevas, 34, is one of the first parents in the state to be convicted under state law for chronic absenteeism, according to the report. "We take attendance very seriously, and we want our children to be in school," Tim Bowers, the Kings County Superintendent of Schools said.

Bowers said Cuevas ignored phone calls and letters warning her about the possible consequences. He told the news media, on average, the school will make 15 to 20 calls before they take action. Cuevas is the second mother in the district to put behind bars for this type of crime. She has a son in the second and third grade, and they both missed a total of 116 days of school last year, according to the report.

Parents at Monroe Elementary School in Hanford, California, seemed to have mixed reactions to the sentence, according to the report.
"Put her on the highway to clean up the mess or something," said Melissa Mooney, a parent at the school. "Who will care for her children? I think 180 days is extreme."

Adriana Castaneda, another parent at the school, said the mother got off with a light sentence. "I would have given her a year," she said. "Honestly, I think the punishment is not enough. Education for children is very important."

Doris Simeon In Fresh Divorce Case…Daniel May Be Arrested For Alleged Forgery

You might have read a lot about Daniel Adeninokan and Doris Simeon in the past few days, their case, though, interesting, but it’s gradually becoming one of the movie shot in Nollywood.

Concerned fans of the Nollywood actress are of the opinion that, Doris is no doubt, a dunce and seriously need to pray for wisdom for allowing a man to Allegedly take his only son from her with Alleged fake divorce court documents claiming that court has granted him full custody of the baby, David. No court will give custody of a baby to a man when the mother is not insane or deranged.

As you read this, Doris has dragged Daniel to court for fresh processing of their divorce case and with the Alleged fake documents her lawyer has possession of, Daniel may be wanted for questioning on the Alleged fake divorce documents. If found guilty, he may have to face the full wrath of law for forgery and obtaining by false pretense.

See below the Alleged documents that indicts Daniel.

Pastor arrested after he forces boy to dig his own grave

A little boy was taken to a church by his mother in order for the church to teach the boy a lesson how to behave.

A pastor from California, Lonny Remmers, and two alleged accomplices, Nick Craig, 22, and Darryll Jeter Jr., 28, allegedly forced a 13-year-old boy to dig his own grave and beat him with a shovel as a form of discipline.

The young teenager was apparently led to the pastor in Corona, California for advice. The child's mother took him to church, which is housed in a mall store, to help with her child’s behavior.

The abuse allegedly began on March 18 when the child was left by his mother into the care of Remmers. Remmers allegedly recruited Craig and Jeter to help reprogram the child to behave. Remmers asked the men to scare the child.

The men drove the child 100 miles away from his home and allegedly forced him to dig his own grave while he was beaten with a shovel and buried halfway in it. The boy was then allegedly taken to the pastor's house, where he was forced to read the Bible, while the Pastor tortured him with tweezers.

According to the local news media, the boy and his seven-year-old sister have been taken away from their mother and placed in the custody of CPS. His mother, aged 30, was reportedly staying at one of the churches and was moved to another home while police continue investigating.

The three were arrested and charged with felonies, including kidnapping, torture and child abuse. If convicted, the pastor could get seven years in prison, while Craig and Jeter could face up to 19 years in prison.

I Wish My Mum Married Someone Like Dangote – Doris Simeon

"Edo State-born actress, Doris Simeon, talks about her life in an interview with ‘Nonye Ben-Nwankwo

Why do you concentrate more on Yoruba movies?

I have done a couple of English movies. But I do more of soaps and TV series. But there is a new movie, The Nanny, in which I played the lead character. But I still do English movies.

How did you become a part of the Yoruba movie industry?

I actually started with Papa Ajasco and Co. I went for the auditioning. My purpose for going wasn’t to get auditioned. I went there to see if I could sight some stars and mingle with them. I never had in mind that I would get auditioned. But fortunately, I was given a script to audition and I did well. I met a director on that set and he was the one that brought me into the Yoruba movie industry.

Do you remember the first movie you featured in?

Yes. The title of the movie was changed twice. But funny enough, the movie wasn’t released early enough and some other movies I featured in after it came out before it. When it was eventually released, I think the title was Ten Million Naira or something like that.

When was this?

This was in year 2000. The Papa Ajasco sitcom I featured in was in 1999. I have stayed some time really.

Did you think, back then, that you would get to the level of playing lead roles?

Sincerely, it wasn’t my goal. I wanted to be behind the camera. When I was coming up and I saw how fans almost mobbed my senior colleagues, I had a rethink. I said I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes. I would rather wish that people would know the name and not the face. But I was told it didn’t work that way. I also realised that you make more money being in front of the camera than being behind it. I decided to go for it. I didn’t plan it this way but I thank God. In everything you have to thank God.

But you have started producing your movie, why?

It is not about trying my luck being a producer. It is not every time your luck will shine. It is about what you have inside and also the passion you have. You would want to do something people would appreciate and learn from and not only to get entertained. But it is not only actors that produce movies, directors also produce movies and even act in the movie. It is just what you have inside you and you don’t want it to die so you try and explore it. Money can come out of it, yes but let the passion be the drive for becoming a producer.

Talking about money, we hear that the Yoruba movie actors are paid peanuts…

That is what most people will always come up with. But this industry is not about fixed prize. We have our different ways of negotiating. It all depends on the way you carry yourself. If you want to do for me and I do for you, nobody will query you. If you want to do a job and collect your money, that is also fine. This is not a salaried job that anybody will sack you or tell you he won’t pay you at the end of the month. If they pay them so fantastically well in the English movie industry, most of them wouldn’t have gone into producing movies as well. It is about choice.

Do you have a fixed amount you charge?

No, I don’t.

Can you tell us the highest amount you have pocketed?

Hmm… let it be inside my pocket. But I am comfortable and I thank God for that. I am good.

Why do you reject scripts?

At this point in my career, there are some scripts you would read and try to advice the producer especially when it has the potential of tarnishing the image of the actors. If you can’t go with my advice, I reject the script. I have been building my career for a long time. I wouldn’t want to do a movie and I tarnish this image I have been trying to build in a good way. So if the script to me is not what people would wish to see me in, I reject it.

Actresses in Nigeria live above their means, do you do same?

I don’t do that. I am myself. You have to accept me the way I am. I don’t do things to impress anybody, no policeman will arrest me. But I have some other businesses I am doing. I want to venture into TV presentation and some other stuff. I don’t bite more than I can chew and that is a fact.

How was growing up?

It was fun. It was just the typical Nigerian child growing up. We were told not to watch TV but read our books. During my time, parents wanted their children to be doctors and lawyers and engineers. But fortunately, my parents were free minded. I told them I wanted to be a news caster or a radio presenter. I used to watch TV a lot. There was a day my mother beat me black and blue. She sent me on an errand and I went and got the wrong thing because I was watching Indian movie in my neighbour’s place. My parents gave me their blessings. They supported me. One woman was so angry with my mother and asked her how she could allow me to become an actress. She told my mother that actresses sleep around and all that. But it was that same woman that came back years later and was begging my mother that her niece wanted to be an actress and my mum should help her talk to me to help her.

What kind of home did you grow up in?

I came from a polygamous home. We fight and settle and fight again and settle. It was so much fun. Now, I remember all we did and I laugh. My parents were wonderful, God rest their souls.

So your parents are late?

Yes. I am an orphan. I am actually looking for an orphanage where I can move to if they have a bed space for me. (laughs). I miss them a lot anyway.

Every young girl will always remember her first boyfriend, do you remember yours?

I remember that I did ‘shakara’ a lot when I was growing up. ‘Toasting’ then was just writing letters. But when I was growing up, the guys I liked never asked me out. The ones I didn’t like would always flock around me. I don’t think I remember having a first boyfriend. It was actually when I started acting that I started having boyfriends. But afterwards, those ones I liked started coming and I told them it was too late. There was this guy, in his mind, I was his girlfriend. He came to Lagos for his youth service. He used to take me out to eateries. So I would say he was my first boyfriend but we didn’t date. We didn’t even kiss.

Why?

He said he was very patient and he would wait for me till I was ready.

So who eventually became your first ever boyfriend in the real sense?

He is in the UK. We dated for two years. I was grown up then and I realised that I couldn’t stand distant relationship. He liked surprising me. He would come around and wouldn’t tell me he was coming. He is still based in the UK.

A lot of people may think you are arrogant…

I thank God that I am not. I had parents that brought me up in a great manner. My mum was a very beautiful woman and sometimes, I asked her how she got married to my father. I would ask her why she didn’t marry somebody like Dangote. She would tell me that if you have a fine face and you don’t have a good character, nobody will come after you. I don’t take life so hard. When you die, it will all be vanity. It is better you are humble and be yourself. Your lifestyle has to be decent.

But you should feel bad that your marriage didn’t work out few years after you got into it?

There is always time to be happy and time to be sad. There is time to reflect and think and learn from your life. You make mistakes to learn. You don’t make mistake and go back to it or dwell in it.

But will you get married again?

Hmmm. I don’t know what to say. I am not taking life so hard. You don’t say some things when you are happy because you might regret it. I want to go the way life goes.

But are you in a relationship again?

Yes. I am in a relationship with God and my son. Is God not male? My son is also a man. He is my boyfriend now.

Would you say it was your fault that your marriage broke up?

I just thank God. I thank Him for everything.

How do you cope with the scandal your marriage generated?

You have to accept life the way it is. At least I am alive and people talk about me. Some people are alive and they are not known. Even if I die today, people will talk about me.

What if your ex wants his son back?

He is his son. It is not all the kids that you train that will remember you. You just do your own and leave the rest to God.

What is your greatest desire?

I won’t say I want to be like God, but I want to touch lives. I want to make an impact so that people will never forget me.

What if your husband comes back to you and begs you for forgiveness?

I leave it to God. (sings) I am married to Jesus, Satan leave me alone…

But you look so happy…

I am so happy. Do you know that one of my colleagues died recently? I am older than Bisi Komolafe and she is dead now. I can provide for myself. Why should I be sad? That is why I am not taking life so hard. You don’t know when you can slump and die."

300 Gallons Of Urine Found In Man’s House

If pee stories are your persuasion, urine luck!
Authorities in Newtown, Conn. said they found a home filled with as many as 300 one-gallon jugs of urine on Friday, according to the Danbury News Times.
The state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection stumbled upon the discovery after local health officials asked the agency to investigate.
DEEP condemned the house and the owner could face charges, though that’s unlikely, according to WTNH.
Dennis Schain of DEEP, said he was confident the urine belonged to the owner, whose name has not been released.
“From our conversation, it seemed that he was responsible for putting the containers there,” Schain said. “It’s most unusual. Our crews have been out over the years, and they are having a hard time recalling something like this.”
Guyism suspects the worst motivations for the man’s penchant for pee storage:
Hoarding gallons upon gallons in your house for an unknown cause seems like a fairly supervillainous thing to do. Maybe not a good supervillain, but a supervillain all the same.

Sunken Egyptian City Reveals 1,200-Year-Old Secrets

Until a decade ago, no one knew if Heracleion, believed to be an ancient harbor city, was fiction or real. Now, reports the Telegraph, the researchers who found it—150 feet beneath the surface of Egypt’s Bay of Aboukir—are sharing some of the amazing historical artifacts preserved there.
The finds include 64 ships, 16-foot-tall statues, 700 anchors and countless gold coins and smaller artifacts.
According to underwater archeologist Franck Goddio, credited with having discovered the site, the city was probably built sometime around the 8th century B.C., which makes it older than the famed city of Alexandria. Over the years, it fell victim to a number of natural disasters before being swallowed by the sea, probably around A.D. 700.
“We are just at the beginning of our research,” said Goddio. “We will probably have to continue working for the next 200 years for [it] to be fully revealed and understood.”
It’s believed that gradual soil erosion eventually caused Heracleion to fall into the Mediterranean. “It is now clear that a slow movement of subsidence of the soil affected this part of the south-eastern basin of the Mediterranean,” Goddio writes on his site. “The rise in sea level—already observed in antiquity—also contributed significantly to the submergence of the land.”
The Telegraph reports that researchers are beginning to more fully understand what daily life was like in the city, also called “Thonis.” Mainly, they describe it as having served as the main hub for sea traffic entering the region, including all trade from Greece.
“We are getting a rich picture of things like the trade that was going on there and the nature of the maritime economy in the Egyptian late period,” Damian Robinson, director of the Oxford Centre for Maritime Archaeology at the University of Oxford, told the Telegraph. Robinson is part of the team that has been busy uncovering artifacts from Heracleion’s sunken remains.
“It was the major international trading port for Egypt at this time,” Robinson added. “It is where taxation was taken on import and export duties. All of this was run by the main temple.”
The city is also believed to have had a rich cultural history. Helen was said to have visited it with her lover Paris shortly before the onset of the Trojan War.

Spider-Man Wanted By Los Angeles Police For Stealing $6,000 On Hollywood Boulevard

A man dressed as Spider-Man allegedly made off with $6,000 from a tour operator on Hollywood Boulevard, a place known to attract various costumed people who usually pose for pictures in exchange for tips.
As a result, Los Angeles Police officers have been detaining various men dressed as Spidey for questioning. So far, none have been identified as the thief, officer Chris No told the Los Angeles Times.
The suspect reportedly swung into action when he saw an employee of Starline Tours walking away from the company’s Hollywood Blvd. location and helped himself to a paper bag filled with the cash, KTLA-TV reported.
Meanwhile, other people who dress up as superheroes – including Superman, Batman and Catwoman — have promised to keep their eyes out on the Walk of Fame in hopes of capturing the rogue Spider-Man, NBCNewYork.com reported.
This isn’t the first time superhero on Hollywood Blvd. turned out to be a super villain.
In February, 2012, a woman dressed up as Catwoman got into a literal cat fight with an Ozzy Osbourne impersonator. She reportedly pepper sprayed the fake Ozzy and a Jack Sparrow character.
In September 2011, a man dressed asSpongeBob SquarePants was arrested for harassing two women, according to NBC Los Angeles.
The station also reported in 2009 that a Spider-Man impersonator struck a man in the face and arms.

Jay Z Illuminati Links: Are They True?

Are Jay Z’s Illuminati links true? Life is pretty sweet for the multi-million selling rapper, successful entrepreneur and husband of one of pop’s most successful woman, Beyonce. Jay Z’s net worth is getting up towards $500 million, the positivity of his press is at an all-time high, this is a man who's getting richer and more popular as life goes on. Things seem sweet, alright – but are they too sweet? When the rapper turned up to the Grammys wearing a great big diamond ring that, according to the site Media Take Out, bore all the hallmarks of designs worn by those in the Illuminati, alarm bells started ringing – or at least they did for the tin hat wearers and conspiracy nuts.
Just in case you weren’t aware of what the Illuminati was for some reason, it’s generally regarded as a secret society that for a long time has called the shots of what goes on in the world – no matter what appears to be going on on the surface. Jay Z is far from the only celebrity to have been linked with the supposedly ancient organization, in fact it seems that many are viewed as making their way to the top with a helping hand along the way. Just last year Ke$ha’s Die Young video was purported to have contained Illuminati imagery, with the star dancing around it. Russell Simmons is another character who last year was challenged on whether he was in the secret society. His reply to TMZ - "Are you kidding me? I'm a grown f*cking man!" – should have shut the doubters up. Except no one who was actually in The Illuminati would admit they were in it of course! You can see how the cycle goes, and how people are aligned to it by others whether it’s real or not.
