Killing: Court to hear N500m suit against police June 25

A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan yesterday fixed hearing in the case instituted by Mrs. Titilayo Joseph (nee Adegbeha) and Mr. Oluyemi Samuel Adegbeha, against the Inspector General of Police, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police and three others to June 25.
In the suit number FHC/ IB/CS/30/13 instituted by Mr. Tunde Olupona, the two applicants want the court presided over by Justice Abimbola Adejumo-Obaseki to order the IG and five others to pay N500 million, jointly and severally for the killing of their brother, Adesola Adegbeha, on January 8 allegedly by a policeman at Mokola, Ibadan less than two months to his wedding.
Others sued alongside the IG and the commissioner, are Corporal Ekundayo Julius, other unknown policemen, and the Attorney- General of the Federation.
In the originating motion on notice brought pursuant to Order 2, Rules 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the Fundamental Human Rights (Enforcement Procedure), the applicants want the court to declare that the acts of the respondents and their agents in recklessly and maliciously shooting their brother, thereby occasioning his death, were a violation of his fundamental right to life as guaranteed under Section 33 of the constitution, Articles 2 and 4 of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act 2004 and other International Instruments on Human Rights.
Other demand include a declaration that every person in Nigeria has a right to life as guaranteed by Section 33 of the constitution and Article 4 of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights.
The first applicant in her affidavit in support, said at the time Adesola was killed, his marriage was already fixed for March 16, while his Ameriacn-based fiancée, Arinola, was to arrive Nigeria for the introduction and engagement which was fixed for March 2.

The Devil Made Him Do It: Christian Musician Hires Assasin To Kill His Wife

The lead singer of Christian heavy metal band “As I Lay Dying” tried to hire a hit man to kill his estranged wife, authorities said.

Grammy-nominated rocker Tim Lambesis, 32, was arrested in a sting operation 2 p.m. Tuesday in Oceanside, Southern California.

Authorities said they sprang into action after hearing Thursday how he wanted someone to murder Meggan Lambesis — the mother of his three adopted children.

“The information came to us late last week. We acted quickly on it. I believe we averted a great tragedy,” said Jan Caldwell of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Heavily tattooed Lambesis, who lives 20 miles north of San Diego in Del Mar, was served with divorce papers by his wife in September 2012.

The long-haired singer’s band, formed in 2000, has released six albums.

Its most successful was “An Ocean Between Us” which soared to No. 8 on the Billboard charts in 2007.

His group had recently returned from tour in Asia, reports Billboard.com.

Metal Blade, the group’s record label, has not commented on the arrest.

Lambesis, who was charged with solicitation of another to commit murder, is due in court for arraignment Wednesday or Thursday.

NOT FOR CHILDREN: Sèx positions for conceiving baby boy

Whether you're absolutely dying for a baby boy your first time around or are just hoping to add a little guy to your brood of girls, experiment with these sex positions, as well as diet and timing tips, to help up your odds of conceiving a male.
Try it from behind
Also known as "Doggie Style,' this position is highly recommended to couples hoping to conceive a boy, says Stacy Rybchin, founder of My Secret Luxury. Why? "Because it allows for deeper penetration, and consequently, during ejaculation, the male sperm get deposited closer to the cervix.' In general, male sperm are faster, but they don't live as long as females do, so the less distance they have to travel, the better!

Do it standing up
Apparently to conceive a boy, all you gotta do is have sex standing up! This position, like doggie style, enables deep penetration and is also thought to give the faster male sperm an advantage seeing as sperm must swim against gravity to get to the egg. While not backed by science, it's worth a shot if you're hoping for a male.

Wait until you ovulate
Timing is, of course, everything when it comes to making a baby. Believe it or not though, the day you do the deed (and the days you don't too!) can potentially influence the gender of your child. To increase your chances of a boy, experienced nurse and midwife Carmen Kosicek, RN, MSN, advises avoiding intercourse in the days (at least four or five) leading up to ovulation. Then do it the day of, she directs. Since male sperm are faster swimmers, the theory here is that'd they'd reach the egg first before the females. "Now, the trick is figuring out exactly when you ovulate!' Don't worry ladies there are kits for that.

Consume more calories
And eat cereal for breakfast! "A study conducted by researchers at the University of Exeter in the UK suggests that upping your calorie intake by at least 400 calories per day and consuming cereal especially, along with bananas, fish, vegetables and other high energy foods, can help lead to conception of a boy,' reveals Dr. Ava Cadell, spokesperson for The Experience Channel and renowned love and sex therapist. Interesting, huh?

3 ways to last longer in bed

Researchers reviewed 14 studies that monitored the effects phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitorsâ€'drugs for erectile dysfunction like Viagra and Levitraâ€'had on men who experience premature ejaculation (PE). Eleven of the studies showed medication helped extend the length of the time they could go before reaching orgasm.
So does this mean that science has found the magic pill for helping you go all night? Not exactly.
The researchers stress that although this correlation was found, it's hard to determine whether or not the ED medication was actually responsible for the delay in orgasm since a majority of the studies did not compare the results against a placebo.
If you're looking to buy some time before reaching climax, rather than hitting up your doctor for meds, check out the following tips. (And we've got even more keys for Lasting Longer in Bed)
Stop-Start Technique
You need to get used to building your arousal to where you're almost at that point of no return, says Debby Herbenick, Ph.D., sex researcher at Indiana University and author of Great in Bed. Start stimulation, but as soon as you feel you're getting too aroused, simply pause for a brief momentâ€'Herbenick recommends 5 to 10 secondsâ€'and let your arousal subside. After repeating this technique a few times, feel free to release.

Squeeze Technique
As soon as you feel you're getting close, stop stimulation and squeeze right below the head of your penis, says Herbenick. It's best to focus the pressure on the urethraâ€'the tube running along the underside of the penisâ€'because this will temporarily represses your ejaculatory response. Once your arousal has died down, repeat a few more times before reaching climax, says Herbenick.

Rely On Rubbers
Another useful technique for pushing back your ejaculatory response is to wear a desensitizing condom, says Herbenick. These products contain the desensitizing lubricant benzocaine, so it will buy you a few more minutes in the sack. But something to keep in mind: Make sure you're not putting the condom on inside out, otherwise the Benzocaine will end up inside her vagina, says Herbenick.

D’Banj Signs Olamide To DB Records

While there is no official confirmation yet, I can pretty much say, with confidence, that D’Banj has signed Olamide to DB Records.

Rumours have been flying around in recent weeks as they’ve both been seen at several events together. At this moment, Olamide is in  Atlanta with D’banj. Not sure why but all fingers point to them teaming up at DB Records.

This is potentially HUGE!!!
This is the only form of confirmation we have, for now. These are the words from Kayswitch:

Welcome to the family! Baddo

2Face’s Babymama, Sunmbo Ajaba Cancels Wedding With Pastor Lover?

Sumbo Ajaba, Tuface Innocent Idibia’s baby mama has picked Saturday, May 4th 2013 for her white wedding to her pastor; David Adeoye which is slated to hold at Royal Christian Centre.

Their court wedding will hold Thursday May 2nd at the Ikoyi registry. They already held their introduction ceremony. UPDATE:Sir Alex Ferguson retires as Manchester United manager

Manchester United have confirmed Sir Alex Ferguson will retire as manager at the end of the season.
In his statement, he said: “The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and not taken lightly. It is the right time.” – Alex Ferguson.
Manchester United have confirmed that Sir Alex Ferguson will step down as the club’s manager at the end of the season after 26 years in charge at Old Trafford.
The 71-year-old is the most successful manager in the history of English football, having won 38 trophies – including 13 Premier League titles – since taking over from Ron Atkinson in November 1986.
Ferguson will say his goodbyes to the Old Trafford crowd after Sunday’s home clash against Swansea before taking on a role as an ambassador on the United board of directors.
In a statement on United’s official website, Ferguson said: “The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly. It is the right time.
“It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so. The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure of the youth set-up will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one.
“Our training facilities are amongst the finest in global sport and our home Old Trafford is rightfully regarded as one of the leading venues in the world.
“Going forward, I am delighted to take on the roles of both Director and Ambassador for the club. With these activities, along with my many other interests, I am looking forward to the future.
“I must pay tribute to my family, their love and support has been essential. My wife Cathy has been the key figure throughout my career, providing a bedrock of both stability and encouragement. Words are not enough to express what this has meant to me.
“As for my players and staff, past and present, I would like to thank them all for a staggering level of professional conduct and dedication that has helped to deliver so many memorable triumphs. Without their contribution the history of this great club would not be as rich.
“In my early years, the backing of the board, and Sir Bobby Charlton in particular, gave me the confidence and time to build a football club, rather than just a football team.
“Over the past decade, the Glazer family have provided me with the platform to manage Manchester United to the best of my ability and I have been extremely fortunate to have worked with a talented and trustworthy Chief Executive in David Gill. I am truly grateful to all of them.
“To the fans, thank you. The support you have provided over the years has been truly humbling. It has been an honour and an enormous privilege to have had the opportunity to lead your club and I have treasured my time as manager of Manchester United.”
Ferguson scheduled a meeting to break the news to staff at the club’s Carrington training ground at 9.30am and will hold an interview with United’s in-house television station, MUTV, at 10.30am.
Everton manager David Moyes has been installed as the bookmakers’ favourite to succeed the Scot while Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is also among the favourites to take over at Old Trafford.
The announcement of Ferguson’s decision to retire came after intense speculation following a golf match between United players and coaches at Dunham Massey on Tuesday.
Ferguson has long been planning for his succession and has consistently cited his health as the decisive factor in the timing of his retirement. He had a pacemaker fitted in 2004 and United confirmed last week that he would undergo hip surgery in August.
David Gill’s decision to stand down as chief executive this summer saw Ferguson lose a close ally within the club and there had been suggestions that he came close to quitting at the end of last season losing out on the Premier League title to rivals Manchester City.
Ferguson previously expressed his regret over announcing his retirement before the end of the 2001-02, which he felt led to poor on-pitch performances and resulted in a U-turn after he had a change of heart.
Manchester united fans, what’s your take on this?

Dead Rapper, Tupac’s Aunt On FBI’s Most Wanted Terror List

Famous rapper Tupac Shakur’s aunt has become the first woman to land on the FBI’s list of most wanted terrorists.
Cop killer Joanne Chesimard, 65 – who was also reportedly Tupac’s godmother was convicted in 1977 of murdering a police officer, Trooper Werner Foerster, in New Jersey, US.
She was jailed but pulled off an escaped in a dramatic break-out and later fled to Cuba.
The FBI have now doubled the reward for her capture, placing a $2million (£1.3m) bounty on her head.

Special agent Aaron Ford said: “Today, on the anniversary of Trooper Werner Foerster’s death, we want the public to know that we will not rest until this fugitive is brought to justice”.
Tupac Shakur was one of the most successful rappers in the 1990s, whose career was cut short when he died at the age of 25 in a Las Vegas shooting.

n May 2, 1973, cops stopped former Black Liberation Army member Chesimard and two others at the New Jersey turnpike, for a driving violation before a gunfight broke out between the two parties
Both police officer Werner Foerster and one of Chesimard’s passengers were killed in the exchange of gun fire.
2pac’s aunt Chesimard was later arrested soon convicted four years later of first-degree murder, assault and battery of a police officer, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to kill, illegal possession of a weapon and armed robbery.
She was handed life behind bars and began her sentence at a maximum security prison in West Virginia.
But after being transferred to a New Jersey minimum security prison, she escaped in 1979 with the help of three people visiting her, holding security guards at gunpoint and forcing them to open the prison gates.
Chesimard presently known as Assata Shakur, whose brother was the stepfather of Tupac – hid in a safe house in New Jersey for years before being granted political asylum in Cuba in 1984.
During Chesimard’s trial and imprisonment, she was represented by the late civil rights attorney William Kunstler who claims she did not receive a fair trial and was the victim of racism and mistreatment.

Yesterday, New Jersey State Police superintendent Rick Fuentes said: “To this day, from her safe haven in Cuba, she been given the pulpit to preach and profess, and flaunts her freedom in the face of this horrific crime.”
Chesimard is considered a “domestic terrorist” although she is said to pose no new threat.

US To Tighten Student Visa Rules After Boston Bombing

The US is tightening its screening of international students, its first security change in response to the Boston Marathon bombings last month.

The move comes after a student from Kazakhstan – who did not have a valid visa – was accused by police of hiding evidence for one of the bomb suspects.

The Department of Homeland Security has ordered border agents to automatically check the visa status of every student.
Azamat Tazhayakov had returned to the US despite being dismissed from school.
The 19-year-old appeared in court on Wednesday, accused of helping to throw out a backpack belonging to his friend, Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. No second check
Mr Tazhayakov’s student visa had been terminated by the time he arrived in New York on 20 January, following his academic dismissal from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth on 4 January
The Department of Homeland Security will “effective immediately” verify that every international student visa is valid, according to an internal memo obtained by the Associated Press news agency on Friday
Under the new procedures, border agents will verify a student’s visa status before the person arrives in the US, using information provided in flight manifests.
If that information is unavailable, they will manually check the visa status through a US database.
Beforehand, border agents would only verify a student’s status in a database, the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, when the person was referred to a second officer for additional inspection or questioning

My Husband Does Not Mind Me Playing Séxual Roles - Oge Okoye-Duru

Oge Okoye-Duru is undoubtedly a success story in the Nigerian movie industry. The mother of two speaks on a number of issues bordering on her life and the movie industry in general.
Excerpts:
With some Nollywood practitioners taking up roles that will expose their bodies, can Oge Okoye find herself in this situation?
Never! No amount of money is worth your moral value. I am a mother and a mentor to some people, the emerging generation; I can’t take up a role that will involve nudity because of these people that look up to me and because of our society. But I could do other sensual roles, but for nudity, I wouldn’t even dare it.

How does your husband feel for those sensual or romantic roles you play?
I really don’t know if he feels bad, but I know that being a human being like I am, he might be feeling bad inside but he is not showing it. Funny enough, he has never complained about them. He encourages me a lot; he is always there for me. It’s not much of a problem though; he doesn’t watch my movies, unless maybe you see him hiding somewhere watching it.

How did you get into acting?
I had always wanted to act, so I went for an audition and got a role, that was in 2001. According to my mother, when I was young, I was always saying I wanted to be a super star someday; that I used to walk up and down the house doing fashion parade as a child. Because of my legs and the way I carried myself then, she thought I was going to be a model, not an actress.

I love everything about drama, in church, I was involved in drama. I was at the Enugu State University of Technology at first studying Accountancy. I did that for a whole year and I was like, ‘God in heaven, you know I shouldn’t be doing this.’ My father wanted me to be a medical doctor and I knew I wasn’t going to do it.

So, I persuaded him and I left for Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where I studied Theatre Arts. I started going for auditions here and there. I was so lucky when I got a minor role in “Caesar to Caesar”, a long time ago. After that, I got a role in Spanner, my first and only comedy movie that starred Nkem Owoh and Chinedu Ikedieze. I was so scared at first to act with Nkem Owoh, because of his caliber and expertise in acting but I did it and very well too. After that, I was in Sister Mary. I have been on and on since then.

A lot of people who started like you are now producers; aren’t you thinking along that line?
I’m one person that likes to take my time when I’m doing anything. If I’m going to produce a movie, it would not be a half- baked movie or just do it because I want to produce a movie. I want to do something that in the next 10 -20 years, you’d still refer to it and say it was a good movie. I really like taking my time. Expect something big from me very soon. I know that before the end of this year, something wonderful would happen. I already have three movies lined up and I’m making plans on writing a book soon.

Writing a book! That’s fantastic; no one would ever see Oge Okoye in that direction. What spurred you?
Well, like I said before, I am one person who doesn’t have to make a noise at every step I take. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed.

We understand you have a foundation you are working on….
Oh yes, talking about my foundation, it’s on already; this will tell you the kind of person I am. I don’t make mountains out of mole hills, my foundation, Positive Life For Children, PLC, has been on and it has been fulfilling its purpose.

What are the projects PLC has executed?
Pained by the total negligence of the underprivilege, PLC has impacted in the lives of the underprivileged and youths in the attainment of educational skills. Even me, as a UN ambassador, I have dedicated my life promoting peace and social development among the underprivileged. My foundation is focused on tackling the most challenging needs of all children with special needs anywhere in Africa.

I’m very sure your husband shares this belief with you?
Yes, of course, though, my husband is far away, but honestly, he has been of tremendous support in sustaining PLC

How do you cope with the distance between you two?
We understand each other; we love each other; we know when to draw the line. We are like brother and sister. It’s all about the relationship; it’s all about communication. He calls me almost 10 times in a day. Every night, I must talk to him before I sleep; it’s a must. It’s not much of a problem. I’m always there, and if I’m not there, he is here. In fact, he just left for his base not quite three weeks now.

What is his name and how did you meet him?
His name is my husband. Anyway, he’s Stanley Duru. It was really not love at first sight with my husband. We were friends at first and it was going on like that then the marriage came. I got married in 2005. I met him early 2004. Marriage has made me more mature in life. I am so matured that sometimes when I am having a discussion with my very close cousin who is like my sister, she would tell me that I’m talking like an old woman.

How many kids do you have?
I have two lovely kids. My boy is five years old, and my second a girl, will be three soon. It’s really hard, but it takes a whole lot of hard work and a lot of sincerity for a marriage to survive. There are some questions people will ask you about your relationship and you wouldn’t even know what to say and you wouldn’t want to lie. You are just like caught in the middle. One thing I just don’t do is to allow any part of me to suffer – my job, my career, my family. I try to fix a balance.

But there are rumours that your marriage has crumbled?
It is totally false, I really don’t know why people would be breaking up our marriage and bringing it back for us on their own. I really can’t get it. My husband and I are still very much together and we are going to be forever.

I Can’t Talk About Kim Kardashian’s fee – Darey Art-Alade

Soul musician, Darey Art-Alade, says it took him about four months to put the Love Like a Movie Concert together. Darey, who spoke to Saturday Beats, said he would not discuss the amount the American reality television star, Kim Kadarshian, was paid as appearance fee, adding that people are entitled to their opinion.
It would be recalled that the news that the American was paid $500,000 raised lot of controversies.
He said, “Who knows how much they were paid? Actually I cannot talk about how much anybody was paid, so who cares? Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but we had a great show and that’s what matters at the end of the day. It was all from a dream. We just wanted to do something different; something to push the envelope and be creative. “Thanks to everyone who supported us in cash and kind and all the hard work. We succeeded. The concert took about four months from the scratch, it was totally an original production.”
Although a graduate of Creative Arts Department, University of Lagos, Darey said that his decision to go into movies would be a management decision.
“I am a trained actor technically from the University of Lagos, apart from the degree I have in music. I am not going into acting quite yet, I have been approached several times to do movies. I have been in stage plays but I have not done any films. I have been on stage, theatre is where I am comfortable. I have been in musicals, operas, but for films, I am not sure. That’s a management decision,” he told Saturday Beats.
Ever the busy bee, he hinted that he has been working on his artistes and music.
“Since then, it has been work. There are other artistes on Soul Musik record label. Mo’easy is there now. He just released a music video. I have just released a music video as well. I have been working on more songs, developing other projects we have been working on. Work continues, sometimes you don’t make noise while you are working,” Darey said.
