Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday showed off his football skills when he led the ‘OBJ Team’ to victory against the Ogun State Executive Team.
The match which was part of his 78th birthday celebration, was held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, with Governor Ibikunle Amosun, leading the state team.
Obasanjo scored two goals for his team, defeating the Amosun team which recorded one goal.
The Governor was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the match.
While OBJ won the Golden boot award.
Speaking to press after the match, OBJ who was the captain of his team said:
“I am satisfied and fulfilled, even at my age I cherish sport, because it is relevant to health and we should all endeavour to engage in sporting activities.”
