WIZKID vs EME….. THE REAL ISSUE?
Everyday we get informations about the Wizkid vs EME saga, this information was going around on bbm today, and its worth looking at.. So check this out..
Wizkid already put a lot of the hard work on the talent side before he met EME. From 2009 onwards, EME focused on the branding, artist development, marketing and promotions of Wizkid. (True fact)
Within and outside of Nigeria, there was NO LEGAL CONTRACT signed between EME and Wizkid. (Alleged)
. About March 2012, when fans and the public screamed in excitement about the EME Wizkid UK Tour, Wizkid still did not have a legal contract. However, as a condition to perform in the UK and to get visas granted, the hosting country (UK) required a record contract evidencing Wizkid was signed to EME. EME, in a rush, put a contract together for Wizkid. (Alleged)
. The EME-Wizkid contract (the first signing of a record deal) had a term requiring a album deal. They promised this contract will be amended to the “real contract” later. (Alleged)
Wizkid signed the 7 Album contract, without reading the terms. (Alleged)
Prior to the signing, monies were split between the two in a 50/50 way i.e. monies made from concerts/ tours were split evenly. (Alleged)
In April of 2012, EME announced a joint deal, in a press statement, with Akon’s Konvict. EME claimed Akon would “produce and release Wizkid worldwide” while EME managed Wizkid in Nigeria. (True Fact)
Before we could blink, all of a sudden, Wizkid signed a management deal with Tinie Tempah in the UK. Really? (True Fact)
Banky W & EME allegedly never negotiated or agreed to such a deal. Wizkid directly negotiated and signed with Tinie Tempah. (Alleged)
Wizkid fronts his own label “Star Boy” under the blessings and umbrella of the EME label. (Alleged)
As it stands, the relationship between the EME crew and Wizkid has deteriorated to the point where Wizkid no longer speaks to members of the EME team, including Banky W. All correspondences are filtered through his new manager Godwin Tom (Alleged).
Wizkid wants more money and he wants out i.e. reduce the 7 Album deal.

Willow Smith Drops Out of Jay-Z’s Annie Remake
It’s a hard-knock life for the producers of Annie.
Willow Smith will no longer play the lead in her father Will Smith and Jay-Z’s film remake of the classic musical, a statement from Smith’s company Overbrook Entertainment confirms. Producers site production delays and the “Whip My Hair” singer‘s age as the reason for her bowing out of the project.
“Willow was nine years old when we started developing this project, and has since grown out of the role,” the statement reads. But the company and Jay-Z, who is a producing partner on the project and is also writing new songs for it, insists that losing Willow does not mean the film has been shelved. In fact, rumors are swirling that both 9-year-old Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis andHunger Games‘ Amandla Stenberg are being considered for the part.
Jay-Z said in a statement: “For [my company] Marcy Media’s first foray into film, we couldn’t ask for better partners and mentors than Overbrook Entertainment. We are excited to work with [director] Will Gluck and Sony Pictures Entertainment. My well-known affinity for the classic “Hard Knock Life” makes Annie a natural vehicle to lead us into the world of the cinema
Whitney Houston’s Brother Admits to Introducing Her to Crack
Michael Houston makes painful confession about his late sister’s drug use.
For years Bobby Brown has been blamed by the public for causing Whitney Houston’s battle with drug addiction, but last night the person really responsible for introducing the singer to drugs came forward.
In his first televised interview since his sister’s passing almost a year ago, Michael Houston confessed to Oprah Winfrey that he played a major role in Whitney’s introduction to drugs. During his appearance on Oprah’s Next Chapter, Michael owned up to being the first person to do crack cocaine with his sister back in the 1980s.
Houston blamed their use of the drug on the free-wheeling Hollywood party scene that didn’t eschew such activities during that time.
“You gotta understand at the time…the ’80s…it was acceptable,” he explained as he sat next to his weeping mother, Cissy.
“It’s painful…I feel responsible for what I let go so far.”
Michael admits he turned to drugs to help him cope with his sister’s death, but he has now been clean for the last three months.
Whitney Houston drowned to death in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel on February 11, 2012. The coroner’s report revealed that heart disease and cocaine use were contributing factors to her passing.

Chris Brown Shuts Down Instagram Account
Instagram that…no.
Chris Brown seems to have had yet another social media meltdown of sorts, shutting down his Instagram account after his much-reported brawl with Frank Ocean.
His @f–kyopictures Instagram page, recently home to some intimate pics of the singer with Rihanna, has come up blank since Sunday (Jan. 27), when news of his run-in with Ocean in L.A. broke. Earlier in the day, he posted a pic of Jesus being crucified, saying he was “painting the way I feel.” Then he posted pictures containing the following messages: “Social media takes away the essence of why we are even special or icons. So with that, I’m detaching myself from that world…Elevate yourself above the negative and if it doesn’t work, move on! I respect myself enough as well as my fans to wanna be great!”
Brown’s Twitter page is still active, though it’s “ran by the team,” he explained. His team has apparently been slacking however, as his Twitter feed hasn’t been updated since Jan. 25, before the fight.
This isn’t Brown’s first online tantrum. Back in November, Brown deleted his Twitter after having a vulgar online argument with comedian Jenny Johnson. He did the same in 2009 after telling the music industry to “kiss my a—.”
Isn’t it ironic how smartphones can lead to so much not-smart behavior?
Rihanna on Chris Brown: “We Value Each Other”
If Rihanna got annoyed over questions about her reunion with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown during her Complex cover story, she definitely didn’t keep answers to herself for her latest magazine feature. As Rolling Stone’s cover girl, the singer dished on turning a new leaf with Breezy despite the criticisms.
“I decided it was more important for me to be happy,” she said. “I wasn’t going to let anybody’s opinion get in the way of that. Even if it’s a mistake, it’s my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I’d rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it.”
She also addressed the 2009 incident that led the two to break up after Brown hit Rihanna. The singer explained that they no longer have those heated arguments anymore and instead have learned to talk through their issues.
“When you add up the pieces from the outside, it’s not the cutest puzzle in the world,” Rihannasays. “You see us walking somewhere, driving somewhere, in the studio, in the club, and you think you know. But it’s different now,” she said. “We don’t have those types of arguments anymore. We talk about s–t. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don’t want to lose that.”
That said, Rihanna says she’s ready to put her foot down and leave Breezy if he ever shows hisviolent side again.
“He doesn’t have the luxury of f–king up again,” she said. “That’s just not an option. I can’t say that nothing else will ever go wrong. But I’m pretty solid in the knowing that he’s disgusted by that. And I wouldn’t have gone this far if I ever thought that was a possibility.”
“He made a mistake, and he’s paid his dues,” Rihanna adds. “He’s paid so much. And I know that’s not a place he would ever want to go back to. And sometimes people need support and encouragement, instead of ridicule and criticism and bashing.”
Rihanna‘s issue of Rolling Stone hits newsstands January 31.
Lil Wayne Cut Off His Dreadlocks
A photo from Big Boi’s party shows off the rapper sporting super short hair.
Lil Wayne has been known for his signature long dreadlocks, but a new photo taken during Big Boi’s birthday bash at Thursday’s MaddenBowl suggests that the rapper chopped them off. Perhaps Weezy wanted to shed the weight and try out a new image?
The rapper’s drastically shorter look has everyone buzzing and even some hesitant to buy into the idea that Lil Wayne really did shed his dreads saying he’s merely tied them back.
During his performance at MaddenBowl XIX in New Orleans’ Bud Light Hotel, he kept his headcovered with a hat, but Big Boi’s recent photo showed off Wayne’s super short do.
What do you think of Lil Wayne with short hair? Could you get used to it?
50 Cent Planning Animated Series
We’re still not sure if we’ll ever see another 50 Cent album — that Feb. 26 release date for Street King Immortal is already looking iffy — but at least we may get a 50 Cent cartoon.
According to Deadline.com, FOX is in talks for an animated comedy project from 50, producer Randall Emmett, Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox TV. The as-yet-untitled project is expected to receive a pilot or presentation order. Written by Carl Jones, the show, loosely based on 50‘s childhood, will reportedly focus on an adventurous but good-hearted boy and his run-ins with his off-kilter family and neighborhood. The show will be executive-produced by 50, his producing partner Andrew Jameson, Jones, Emmett and Imagine TV’s Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo.
Don’t take loyalty for stupidity – Wizkid (So Wizkid & E.M.E records part ways?)
anything to go by.Rumours have it that Wizkid has parted ways with the Banky W led E.M.E record label.
On of the pointers was his absence at the Lagos Countdown Concert on New Year Eve, despite an excuse by Banky W that the young singer was ill, even as sources say he was in far-away UK, having a swell time.
Wizkid, who parted ways with his long time manager and friend Osagie Osarenkhoe, in September 2012, is said to be dissatisfied with his contract agreement and sharing quota within the label.
A major indication of the possible crack is that his Twitter Bio now reads, Management @DisturbingLDN @Godwin Tom with no mention whatsoever of EME Records.
Although both parties are yet to put out any word concerning the matter, Banky W shut down these reports early this week, describing it as a mere rumour. In a recent interview, he was quoted as saying that Wizkid is still very much part of EME family. He also added that all Wizzy has aninternational management and recording contract with British rapper, Tinie Tempah’s DisturbingLondon outfit and Akon’s Konvict Records respectively.
With various reports stating that Konvict music is offering the singer a more flexible contract theyoffer him, it is therefore unlikely that his anticipated album will be dropped on the EME imprint.
Also, the 23-year-old superstar, who spent the most part of 2012 touring Europe, Asia and America, had at the beginning of this year acquired a house in Lekki, Lagos. The move was been attributed to the fact that the singer had an argument concerning his new home and leaving his the EME label according to the unconfirmed report.
If it is true that both parties have parted ways, it will no doubt be a case of another failed relationship which brings to mind other examples such as the Psquare/May D, Eva/ elDee as well as the Mo’Hits split.
Is Wizkid Parting Ways With E.M.E Records?
Looks like we are about to witness another major break-up in the Nigerian music industry after the famous D’banj/Don Jazzy break up, with reports of Wizkid parting ways with E.M.E.
The story all around the music industry suggests that Wizkid has parted ways with E.M.E record label controlled by Banky W.
An insight on this was Wizkid’s absence at the Lagos Countdown Concert on New Year Eve, even though Banky W claimed Starboy was sick, as other sources reported contradicting stories of Wizkid partying in the United Kingdom.
Wizkid, who parted ways with his long time manager and friend Osagie Osarenkhoe, in September 2012, is said to be dissatisfied with his contract agreement and sharing quota within the label.
Another obvious indication of the possible music break-up is that his Twitter Bio now reads, Management @DisturbingLDN @Godwin Tom with no mention whatsoever of E.M.E Records.
Both parties have not put out a direct word regarding this matter, as Banky W squashed the break-up reports earlier this week in a recent interview, saying “Wizkid is still very much part of the E.M.E family“.
He also added that Wizzy has an international management and recording contract with British rapper, Tinie Tempah’s Disturbing London outfit and Akon’s Konvict Records respectively.
There have been reports stating that Konvict music is offering Wizkid a more lucrative offer than what E.M.E is offering, which explains why the singer decided not to drop an album again this year and opted for the mixtape instead.
If this report of their break up is true, then this goes a long way to explain what our music industry in Nigeria is turning into, where loyalty is continually questioned.
