Man Loses Two Kids In Six Months Due To ‘Doctors Negligence’

Mr Frank Ogundana has lost two kids in just six months due to what he described as ‘doctors’ negligence’.
His eight-year-old daughter, Donna, who was admitted at the General Hospital Ikorodu on Monday April 8, died last Thursday under questionable circumstances morbidly reminiscent of the death of his only son at the same hospital about six months ago. The grieving man has therefore called on the Lagos State Government to check “the excesses of doctors at the Ikorodu General Hospital” as he alleged that no fewer than 20 couples in his community may have lost their children in similar questionable circumstances at this tertiary health institution.
Donna, a primary four pupil of Lagos State Polytechnic Staff School was diagnosed at birth as being afflicted with Sickle Cell anemia. But a later test was to confirm that she was AA. Indeed she was never admitted in any hospital until her predicament of April 8. According to Ogundana who lectures at the Lagos State Polytechnic, Donna had never been admitted or had blood transfusion since she was diagnosed to be AA in LUTH about five years ago. “I have four children, three girls and a son but my only son died at the Ikorodu General Hospital due to doctors’ negligence, that was six months ago. “My daughter had never been sick until 2012 when she complained of general body pains and under medical advice, we placed her on prescribed medication.
When we returned from church on Sunday, she complained of body pains and was given her medicines. But I realised she did not sleep throughout the night and we took her to General Hospital Ikorodu on Monday April 8 and she was placed on admission. “Some medical tests were carried out on her and her blood count was 29 per cent, while malaria parasite was negative. She was treated for malaria, pains and also given sedatives. But rather than get better, my daughter’s condition got worse as she complained of increasing pains.
“On Tuesday, she started crying frequently and her eye balls became yellow. Unfortunately, doctors were not available to attend to her. I walked up to a nurse to complain about the situation but she said the symptoms were normal. “On Wednesday, I could not bear it any longer as my daughter could not sleep for 24 hours; her heart was beating fast but the nurse on duty said they have increased the sedatives which means she would sleep for longer hours but this was not so.
“Frantic with worry I went round the hospital to see if a doctor could help out; I eventually came across the doctor who placed her on admission but he asked me to exercise patience. I left the hospital by 8pm while my wife stayed back so that I could attend to our two kids at home.
“By this time, I thought of transferring my daughter to another hospital but the doctors were not available to issue a report. The nurses said they had severally drawn the doctors’ attention to my daughter’s worsening condition without an appropriate response. “My wife told me that one of them, Dr. Abu, promised to show up but he never did. By 11pm, I drove to the hospital. As soon as I approached the gate, I heard my daughter screaming. I parked the car and started running to the children's ward. There were two doctors on duty, a male and a female, but the duo refused to show up in the ward.
“In annoyance, I followed the nurses to the doctors’ office and to my greatest surprise, one of them, a female, was sound asleep. After waiting for a while, I forced the door open; my action created a scene which forced the male doctor out of his office. But rather than addressing my problem, he accused me of peeping into a female doctor’s office which aggravated my annoyance and I dragged the female doctor to the ward.
“On noticing my daughter’s predicament and without carrying out any medical examination, she administered sedatives and told me not to worry; that was at midnight. “My daughter woke up around 6am of Thursday April 11 and she was very weak. By that time, her blood level had reduced drastically to eight per cent and my lovely daughter died in my arms. I am heart-broken; doctors in Ikorodu General Hospital have thrown me into mourning ,” Ogundana narrated.

Police Arrest Pregnant Woman For Setting Husband Ablaze In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday arrested a pregnant woman, Esther Peters for allegedly setting her husband, Anayo Kenneth Peters, ablaze at Ijedemo village, Isheri Osun, at the outskirts of Lagos, on Tuesday morning.
DailyPost had gathered that officers from Isheri Police Station responded to a distress call and immediately swung into action, thereby intercepting the pregnant woman when she was trying to escape.
However, the suspect denied being responsible for the crime. However, neighbours said she was always in the habit of fighting with her late husband.
Lagos State Deputy Police spokesman, Mr. Damasus Ozoani confirmed that she had been arrested while the husband’s body has also been deposited in the mortuary, pending police investigation.
Ozoani said, “The police at Isheri Osun got a report that a woman at Ijedemo village had set her husband ablaze. When our men got there, they saw the woman trying to escape. They saw the man burnt to death.
“Immediately, the police arrested the woman and took the body of the man to Yaba General Hospital. The woman alleged that it was the candle light they left in the house that sent the man to his early grave, but neighbours said the man had a quarrel with the wife a day before the incident. We are investigating the matter. The woman would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba for discrete investigation.”

Osaze Odemwinge's wife fingered as the cause of his recent woes?

According to this interesting report, family members of football star, Ozaze Odemwingie are blaming his marriage to Sarah as the cause of his recent downward spiral, especially in his career. Typical the woman always takes the fall .
Insiders just disclosed to societynowng that the marriage of Nigerian international footballer, Osaze Odemwingie is troubled.
The report claims that family members in concert with some friends are of the conviction that his ‘marriage is having an adverse effect on his career.
The West Brom Albion striker got married to his wife, Sarah Fallon on 26 May 2012- after two years of dating. Since then, he has embraced behaviour that transformed his blossoming career downhill.
He engaged authorities of the nation’s football governing body- Nigerian Football Federation and national team coach in a manner that attracted wide spread condemnation and got him sidelined.
The former Locomotiv Moscow star went on to engage club authorities in similar manner, to the extent of single handedly trying to switch to another club. The move earned him wide spread jeers and ridicule. It also forced him out of team play and reduced him to the status of ‘training material’
Information made available to societynowng revealed promoters of the campaign ‘marriage is having an adverse effect on him’ have totalled all the incidents and believe their is something about the matrimony making him to behave out of line.
They have however proffered a solution- Osaze should have a rethink about the union…or at least take a temporary break from the union.
Digs by societynowng revealed the pressure for Osaze to tow the ‘take a break path’ is intense, and troubling the marriage.
But the footballer remains unshaken in his commitment to his wife and marital vows.
Whether the couple will be able to withstand the family pressure or not in days to come remain to be seen.
Before he embraced downward spiral after his marriage – Odemwingie was a darling of football fans both in his country and at his club.

Daycare worker arrested after sexual molesting 23 children

A daycare worker was arrested after sexually assaulting 23 children, according to court records.

Prosecutors said that the 23-year-old daycare worker in Idaho has confessed to sexually abusing the 23 children.

Joshua Ritchie was accused of lewd conduct with a child and was held on $2.5 million bond. Ritchie was arrested after a 5-year-old reportedly told her parents that she was sexually abused by Ritchie.

Ritchie worked at Cornerstone Childcare in Nampa about 20 miles outside of Boise and was also a substitute for the Nampa School District kitchen staff and the Idaho Arts Charter School. Prosecutors told Judge Brian Lee during a hearing that Ritchie told investigators he sexually abused 23 children between the ages of 5 and 14 years old.

Ritchie pleaded guilty to a dozen sex crimes including sexual abuse of a minor, lewd conduct with a minor, and sexual exploitation of a child. At sentencing Ritchie apologized to the victims "My heart breaks again each time I think of the people I've let down. I've done some inexcusable things and will have to live the rest of my life with that knowledge,"Ritchie said.

He has been sentenced to 32 years to life in prison.

Unbelievable: Husband and in-laws kill pregnant bride to rid her of evil

A family of killers finally faced harsh punishment after being convicted of killing a young pregnant bride to rid her of evil.

A man and three family members were jailed for a total of 58 years after being convicted of murdering his pregnant wife claiming she was possessed by evil spirits.

One of the four choked Nalia Mumtaz, 21 years of age, while the other was holding Nalia, apparently in an attempt to expel the evil spirit from her body. The murderers included her husband, Mohammed Tauseef Mumtaz, who later claimed that she choked herself, his parents, Zia Ul-Haq and Salma Aslam, both 51, and his brother Hammad Hassan.

The murder of the young woman was said to have been instigated by the Mumtaz parents. The four were convicted after a three-month trial after a jury ruled that they had deliberately suffocated her. Judge Keith has given them the mandatory life terms this week. He said that while the murder conviction left no doubt about what had happened in the family home in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham, the prosecution had failed to say with certainty what the motives behind the murder had been.

The court heard Mumtaz, who suffers from a genetic condition that has left him deformed, married his girlfriend at a ceremony arranged in his native country of Pakistan. This was 14 months before she died, while six months pregnant with their first child.
Birmingham Crown Court heard that the day before her death in the early hours of the morning, Ms. Mumtaz, who spoke no English, had sounded stressed out when she called her parents to tell them that her husband and others in their neighborhood had been suggesting that she may have become pregnant during a solo trip to Pakistan.

But the judge said that a less likely explanation for what happened was that the defendants believed Naila had been possessed by evil spirits a malicious spirit mentioned in the Koran, so they deliberately choked her in order to get rid of evil spirits.
The judge added: "That's not an easy thing for those of us in the West to understand, but the evidence shows that the beliefs in the evil spirits are widespread in the community in which they live." During the trial, prosecutor Christopher Hotten said that the family members had told police that a person was present at the house praying to get the spirit out of her.

If there is one lady that has held the record for the most conserved inner body part it should be Beyonce. Many tag the success of her little or no media records of trashy behaviors to her husband Jayz, but the real question is is her record really clean, or what is our definition of trashy these days. In a morally upright society will these newly discovered photos of madam Beyonce be said to be less trashy?

Boston Attacks ‘Cowardly’ Act Of Terror, Says Obama

US President Barack Obama on Tuesday branded the Boston bombings a “cowardly” act of terror, but said it was still unclear if a foreign or domestic group or individual was behind the attacks.

Obama said while the impact of the attacks near the finish line of the Boston marathon on Monday, which killed three people and wounded more than 170 others, were clear, the motives and the identify of those responsible was not.“This was a heinous and cowardly act,” Obama said at the White House. “Any time bombs are used to target innocent civilians, it is an an act of terror.

“What we don’t yet know, however, is who carried out this attack or why, whether it was planned and executed by a terrorist organization, foreign or domestic, or was the act of a malevolent individual,” he said.
But the president again vowed to bring whoever was behind the assault to justice, and warned that America would not be cowed by terrorism.
“We also know this — the American people refuse to be terrorized,” he said.
In frank and direct language, Obama vowed to keep Americans up to speed with developments in the investigation and asked them to remain vigilant.
“What I have indicated to you is what we now know. We know it was bombs that were set off. We know that obviously they did some severe damage. We do not know who did them,” he said.
“We don’t have a sense of motive yet. So everything else at this point is speculation.”

US Airways Stops 2 Black Men From Sitting In First Class Because Of Clothing

Airline U.S. Airways has been accused of refusing to let two young African American men into first class until they changed their clothes into more “appropriate attire.”
Brothers McCraig and Miles Warren are suing the airline for discrimination, claiming that when they tried to board the plane in Denver, they were repeatedly told by an employee that their outfit – jeans, hooded sweatshirts and baseball caps violated an alleged first-class dress code.
According to the federal discrimination lawsuit filed on Wednesday they were told to change into b*tton-down shirts, dress shoes and slacks if they wanted to sit in first class and were told that was the airline’s policy.
The men went to the bathroom and changed before boarding the plane bound for Los Angeles. They were shocked however to discover two young men in first class – one Caucasian and one Filipino – wearing jeans and hooded sweatshirts.
Upon questioning the two men, the men revealed that they were “not instructed to change their clothes prior to boarding, nor at any time during the flight.”
The Warrens say they were shocked, humiliated and confused by what happened and are seeking punitive damages.
U.S Airways spokesperson Andrew Christie told AlterNet: “We welcome customers of all ethnicities and backgrounds and do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We take these allegations seriously.
“Initial indications are that these pass-riders were traveling on non-revenue tickets as part of our employee travel program. All employees and pass-riders are expected to comply with the policies associated with this travel privilege.”
