6 Unhealthy Foods You Think Are Healthy

It can be difficult to decide which foods are good for you and which are not. The key is actually moderation. However, here are a list of foods that are not as healthy as you think they are:
1, Vegetable Oils:
Don’t be fooled by the fact that there’s “vegetable” in the name. Unfortunately, most vegetable oils are made from palm oil which is almost purely saturated (unhealthy) oil. It’s semi-solid at room temperature, but is of course liquid when heated and used for frying, and it’s certainly not healthy..
2, Pasta
The typical pasta you get when you buy your spaghetti, macaroni or noodles, is just plain white flour, mixed with water and eggs (although the small percentage of egg included don’t contribute much to the nutritional value of pasta). No vitamins, no minerals, and barely any fiber. Nothing, except empty carbs, shaped as pasta.
3, White Bread
This is pasta, but shaped like bread. You probably already knew this, but there are still people left in the world that think that all kinds of bread are good for them. White bread is not, trust me!
4, Ketchup
Don’t let the fact that it’s gotten from tomatoes fool you. Despite containing the antioxidant lycopene (antioxidants greatly reduce the risks of mutations in your body, and the risk of developing diseases like cancer), ketchup contains loads of sugar (as high as 26% carbohydrates, according to Wikipedia), and also a lot of salt. Most of the ketchup we eat is processed , so the lycopene levels are much lower than what it could be from the amount of tomatoes used.
5, Diet Soda
Don’t be fooled by low calorie drinks either. There are some claims that diet coke is even worse than the sugar-stuffed versions. Several studies have suggested that the artificial sweeteners used in diet soda can cause weight gain, just like ordinary sugars. Also, some of these sweeteners, like Aspartame, have been believed to increase the risk of certain kinds of cancer.
6, Fruit Juice
So many people believe fruit juice is so healthy that they substitute it for all whole fruit in their diet. Now it is true that fruit juice contains a lot of vitamins but it is at great cost; most fruit juice is pumped up with extra sugar and aside from a few varieties has its pulp removed. The pulp in fruit provides essential fibre which can be considered a good counterbalance to all the natural sugar contained in the fruit.

The Amazing Health Benefits Of Corn

Corn, also known as maize, is grown all over the world and used for many products. It is one of the most popular cereals in the world and it can be consumed in many different forms. Corn is also very beneficial to the human body. Here are a few more reasons why you should enjoy delicious corn, anyhow, anytime:
1. Nutrients
Corn is very good source of vitamin B1 (thiamine). It’s a good source of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamins C and E, folic acid, dietary fiber, essential fatty acids, and the minerals magnesium and phosphorus.
2. Eye Health
The Age-Related Eye Disease Study suggests antioxidants may delay the advance of age-related macular degeneration. Yellow corn is rich in the carotenoid lutein which has  antioxidant properties that can lower the risk of age related vision loss.
3.  Prevents Alzheimer’s
A study has shown that the lutein and beta-carotene in corn can prevent the cognitive decline which leads to Alzheimer’s disease.
4. Prevents Cancer
Corn has a high level of a carotenoid with antioxidant properties. An observational study in Singapore has shown that high levels of this were associated with reduced risk of lung cancer.
5. High Fibre
This popular food is high in fibre and its insoluble fibre is effective at tackling common digestive ailments (like constipation and haemorrhoids) by absorbing water, which swells the stool and speeds its movement.
6. Antioxidant Properties of Corn
According to studies carried out at Cornell University, corn is a rich source of antioxidants which fight the cancer causing free radicals. In fact, cooking increases the antioxidants in sweet corn. Corn is a rich source of a phenolic compound ferulic acid, an anti-cancer agent which has been shown to be effective in fighting tumours in chest cancer and liver cancer.
7. Heart Health
According to researchers, corn oil has been shown to regulate cholesterol levels, thus preventing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
8. Protection against Diabetes and Hypertension
Consumption of corn helps in managing diabetes mellitus and is effective against hypertension.
9. Lowering LDL Cholesterol
According to Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, consumption of corn husk oil lowers bad cholesterol by reducing cholesterol absorption by the body.
10. Prevents Anaemia
The vitamin B12 and folic acid present in corn prevent anaemia caused by the deficiency of these vitamins.

Osun Names Airport After MKO

An airport under construction in Ido-Osun, Osun State, has been named after the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola, by the Osun State Government.
Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Mr. Ajibola Basiru, stated this on Thursday during a news conference held at the Governor’s Office, Abere, Osogbo.
Basiru said that the aircraft maintenance facility of the airport would be ready by next year, while international flights would also commence next year.
The airport, which was formerly an aerodrome, had been abandoned for several years by subsequent administrations in Osun before the Rauf Aregbesola administration decided to reconstruct it.
Basiru said the fencing of the airport had been completed just as all gates and security facilities of the airport had been completed.
Commenting on Osun Citizens Mediation Centre, a government agency engaged in conflict resolution, Basiru said the centre had received 84 complaints, adding that none of the complaints bordered on religious disagreement.
He said 30 of the complaints had been resolved amicably within the first month of the inauguration of the centre.
Ajibola said plans were ongoing by South-West governments to construct a railway that would pass through the various states in the region.
He said the proposed rail line is tagged, ‘Great Western Rail Line,’ adding that the “rail is the first phase of the project being planned under the current regional integration agenda in the region”.
He added, “The project if completed would further boost the growth and development of the region and will also create employment and commercial activities in the zone.
“Memorandum of Understanding would soon be signed on the arrangement of Public Private Partnership on it and we believe that the project would enable the people, especially the business men and women in the region to transact business without transport hitch.”

Strictly For Guys!!! How To Get Rid Of An Annoying Girl In 6 Simple Steps

Almost every guy has encountered an annoying girl that doesn’t seem to get the message that he’s just not interested. Here are a few ways to get that pest off your back:
1. Don’t Communicate:
If you want to get rid of a girl you don’t like, then don’t communicate with her in any way. Don’t call or text her, don’t pick her calls or reply her texts. Don’t chat with her or get across to her in anyway. Communicating with a girl makes her feel that you’re interested. If you’re not, don’t do it.
2. Avoid Her:
Avoid her like the plague. If you hear she’s going to be somewhere, then don’t go there. Do what you can to keep from seeing her. If she doesn’t see you for a long time, hopefully she’ll forget about you.
3. Ignore Her:
If for some reason you bump into this girl, then ignore her. Pretend you didn’t see her and don’t look in her direction for any reason. Pretend you don’t know her if you have to. If she has any respect for herself, she’ll leave you alone to avoid public embarrassment.
4. Ask Her For Money
Don’t get it wrong, you’re not going to become a beggar, this is just a trick. Beg her for money constantly. Ask her to borrow you money and never pay back. Most women can’t stand the thought of constantly giving a man money. If you beg her for money non-stop, she’ll have to be completely shameless not to leave you alone.
5. Tell Her You’re Gay
Desperate times call for desperate measures. If a girl is being especially annoying and won’t leave you alone after you’ve tried all the above, then it’s time to tell her you’re gay and as such you just can’t be interested in her. If however, she’s a town crier who will spread the news to Australia and back, please don’t try it.
6. Seek Divine Intervention
If after all this, she still persists, then it’s time to go to God in prayer. She might be a message from your village and in that case, it might take special deliverance to free you from such a girl.

My Girl Is A Devil Child

Star's preacher dad urges congregations to 'pray' for his daughter.

Pop star Katy Perry has been branded a “devil child” — by her own dad.

Firebrand preacher Keith Perry also claims watching his daughter’s gigs is so hellish he ends up weeping because the fans are worshipping the singer instead of God.

And, in a string of bizzare sermons, he urges congregations to “pray for Katy”, whose hits include I Kissed A Girl And I Liked It.

Keith and wife Mary are currently touring American churches as star speakers.

The pair, who have made millions off the back of their famous daughter, show a video making Katy out to be a “devil child” who needs “healing”.

Speaking in Santa Fe Springs, California, Keith ranted: “They ask how can I preach if I produce a girl who sang about kissing another girl?

“I was at a concert of Katy’s where there were 20,000. I’m watching this generation and they were going at it. It almost looked like church.

“I stood there and wept and kept on weeping and weeping. They’re loving and worshipping the wrong thing.”

Katy’s parents ask for donations, saying they need “not one or two dollars, but 20s” so they can go to Switzerland.

Katy, 28, was a church singer before hitting the bigtime. She was briefly wed to sex-mad Brit comedian Russell Brand

Aircraft: FG threatens to prosecute Rivers for forgery

THE face-off over the registration or otherwise of a Bombadier aircraft owned by the Rivers State government took a twist on Thursday with the Federal Government threatening to prosecute Rivers for forgery.
Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, said in a statement that the clearance documents used by the aircraft had been discovered to be forged, threatening that the state government would be prosecuted for the action which the minister said amounted to a violation of the nation’s aviation laws as well as other extant criminal laws of the land.
The statement issued on behalf of the minister by her Special Assistant, Media, Joe Obi, reads in part, “The presentation of false information or forged documentation to regulatory authorities in the processing of official approvals or permits is clearly a serious violation of the Civil Aviation Act, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations and other extant criminal laws in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Upon conclusion of these internal investigations, the Ministry will take all necessary steps required by law.”
Efforts to get the reaction of the Rivers State government to the development on Thursday failed as several calls made to both the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari; and Comunication for Transport, Mr. Tofolari George, were unaswered.
The aviation minister alleged that the flight clearance documents used by the aircraft might have been forged because Caverton Helicopters, whose name appeared on the clearance documents, had denied doing so in a letter to the Federal Government.
According to her, the NCAA had discovered that the aircraft was operating illegally within the Nigerian airspace.
Specifically, she said it was revealed that the aircraft did not have a valid flight clearance for its operations on  April 26, 2013 when it was grounded in Akure as the last purported clearance obtained for the aircraft expired on  April 2, 2013.
She said, “Upon further investigation, however, it also emerged that the last purported flight clearance (and indeed several flight clearances previously obtained for this aircraft) had been obtained using the name of Caverton Helicopters. A letter from Messrs Caverton Helicopters dated April 26, 2013 expressly disclaimed any knowledge of or involvement with the flight clearances previously obtained in its name for the said aircraft.
“The NCAA’s investigations specifically further revealed that the following flight clearances were obtained for the aircraft using the name of Caverton Helicopters: Flight Clearance for 04 – 06 January 2013; Flight Clearance for 23 – 27 January 2013; Flight Clearance for 28 March – 2 April 2013.
“In view of Caverton’s letter expressly denying its involvement with the said clearances applications, the Ministry has directed the NCAA to commence a full investigation into all the circumstances surrounding the false clearance applications.”
Oduah explained that the flight clearance process was a vital safety and security component of civil aviation worldwide.
She noted, “It requires the involvement of both the civil aviation authorities and the national security agencies before approval is given and full disclosure of the aircraft, passengers and crew must be provided as required by law. The security implication of this requirement is further emphasised where a foreign-registered aircraft (such as the current aircraft) is engaged in domestic flight operations. Failure to fully disclose or attempting to conceal the identities of passengers aboard an aircraft is considered a serious security breach both locally and internationally.
“On April 26, 2013, the said aircraft was refused start-up at Akure airport due to insufficient and improper documentation. Specifically, the pilot failed and/or refused to file a proper passenger manifest declaring the full identity of all passengers on the aircraft for the intended flight as mandatorily required by the regulatory authorities.”
Aviation lawyers who spoke on the matter on Thursday, under condition of anonymity, because of the sensitive nature of the matter, however said that if investigation concluded that the clerance documents were forged, the government could prosecute the American crew that flew the aircraft.
“The pilot in command is the sole person responsible for the safety and security of any flight, including its documentation. Maybe government can prosecute the American pilots that flew the plane. But I don’t think the government can go far with this because there is politics in the whole thing,” a reputable aviation lawyer told our correspondent.
The imbroglio over the Rivers State aircraft has generated a bitter controversy since it was briefly grounded in Akure last week with politics being read into the issue.
On Monday, the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State queried Governor Rotimi Amaechi over the matter. The governor said the query was “sad and laughable.”
On Tuesday, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Otelemaba Amachree, raised the alarm that the Felix Obuah-led PDP exco had perfected a plot to impeach Ameachi using the unsuspended five members of the House to carry out the impeachment and thus causing confusion in the state.
Twenty-seven, out of the 32 members of the Rivers assembly, had been suspended on Monday by the Obuah-led exco but a court on Tuesday revoked the suspension.

Terry G Denies Fighting With AY.com

Contrary to rumours making the rounds that Terry G and AY.com recently had a fight during Terry’s birthday party where blows were exchanged; several bottles broken and people injured while trying to separate the fight , Terry G has refuted the rumour, saying that such incident never happened.
Terry made the clarification while speaking with WG on the matter. According to Terry G, “although there was indeed a birthday party at my house, nothing like that ever happened.”
Terry G According to him, AY.Com was not at his party. He stressed the story was the handiwork of his detractors and jobless bloggers.
“AY didn’t come to my birthday party and he doesn’t even know where I live. Please disregard the story because it’s the work of my enemies and bloggers who want to feast on innocent people like me.”
Earlier in the week, the internet was awash with gist that AY.Com who went to celebrate with Terry G on his birthday, landed in hot water when Terry G suddenly pounced on him.
According to the story, because of the age-long battle between the two on copyright issue, where AY.Com accused Terry G of stealing his song, upon sighting AY.Com at his residence, the Ginger Master decided to take his pound of flesh by throwing caution to the wind on his birthday. And as a man to the core, AY also put up a tough front but the ‘fire’ was quenched by friends who immediately dragged AY out of Terry’s compound.

Abuja Prison Rejects Boko Haram Bomber Because He's Too Dangerous

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja yesterday issued an order relocating Mr. Kabiru Sokoto, the suspected operation arrow-head of the dreaded Islamic fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram, from Kuje prisons to the custody of the State Security Service, SSS.
The order to relocate the suspected bomber of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla, Niger State, on Christmas day, followed a request by the lead counsel to the Federal Government, Mrs. Chioma Onuegbu, in the matter yesterday.
The prosecution relied on a letter emanating from the Office of the Comptroller General of Prisons stating that there was a major work ongoing at the prison formation, which was stressing the facility.
The prison boss prayed the prosecution to relocate Sokoto to the custody of the SSS where his security could be guaranteed on a day Sokoto himself prayed the court to admit him to bail to enable him prepare for his trial.
But National Mirror gathered yesterday that the main reason for the relocation was not unconnected with the fear of attack of the prison. The court had on April 19 ordered that Sokoto be remanded in Kuje prisons.
But Sokoto was not moved from the SSS custody to Kuje prisons until April 25, following bureaucratic challenges. But even when he was moved to the Kuje prisons, neither his counsel nor his family members could gain access to him.
His lead counsel, Mr H. A. Ibrahim, who protested to the court yesterday over the flouting of its order, however, claimed that access to Sokoto at the custody of the SSS was better than the prison. He said efforts by his team to see Sokoto on April 26, 27 and May 1 at Kuje failed.

Fire for Fire: Violence erupts in Ibadan as ACN, AP supporters clash

At least 30 people were yesterday injured in Ibadan, Oyo State, when supporters of Accord Party, AP, and those of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, clashed in the state capital.

Reports said some members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers and the ACN disrupted a rally organised by the AP in the state. The rally was led by a former governor in the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, to welcome defecting members from the ACN and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the AP.

National Mirror gathered that tents and canopies erected for the purpose at Olomi area of the city, were burnt while vehicles belonging to the AP, chairs and other instruments were allegedly vandalised.

Tent and chairs set by Accord Party destroyed during the violence.
Tent and chairs set by Accord Party destroyed during the violence.

Speaking with journalists later, Dr. Ibrahim Olaifa, a member representing Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said not less than 30 members of the party were injured.

He alleged that it was the governor through the leadership of the NURTW in the state, Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde aka ‘Fele’ that initiated the attack. Olaifa condemned the incident, saying it was regrettable that the state had returned to its violent political era.

The car belonging to Mr. Laide Oyelude, of the Daily Newswatch , was also vandalised when the hoodlums were hurling stones at the security agencies who ensured that peace reigned while the number plates of some of the vehicles damaged are OYO EGB 138 AA and CK 570 KTU.

It took the intervention of security agents, who fired warning shots to disperse the hoodlums who had assembled again. Tear gas cannisters were fired to scare away the hoodlums who were saying there was no way the rally would hold and stayed very close to the Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC stationed there.

When contacted on the development, the state Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Hon. Dauda Kolawole, denied the involvement of the party’s members in the crisis.
He said members of the ACN in the state are peace loving and will never do anything to tarnish the image of the ruling party in the state, stating that ‘our members are not vandals.

Ini Edo: Married But Living Single, Refuse To Join Her Husband In The U.S

When in November 2008, sultry actress, Ini Edo got married, many expected that it would be a goodbye to spinsterhood for the actress. But about five years after marriage, Ini Edo's case can best be described as that of a 'married but living single' woman.

Her husband, an America-based, but Edo State-born businessman, Philip Ehiagwina was reportedly married to Ruth, who accused Ini of snatching the handsome dude from her.

So, when news started flittering around about Ini Edo's romance with Philip, it became a war for the actress, who tried everything possible to scare away possible intruders.

But five years gone, the couple seldom stays together for a period of straight six months, a source informed Nigeriafilms.com. As we were also informed, while Philip has stayed back in the United States of America, while Ini Edo finds solace in Nigeria, where she stays most of the time.

This has raised concerns and questions about the marriage. People have asked if everything is still well with the union. Some known actresses, who married overseas-based lovers, have since joined their spouses in their base, but such is not the case with Ini Edo and Philip.

Regina Askia, Rita Nzelu just to mention a few, have all relocated abroad to hook up with their spouses to enjoy their marriages.

Initially, many believed that Ini Edo would dump acting after marriage to join her hubby abroad, but that seems not to be the case. The actress is now being alleged of going back to her old lifestyle, when she was still single due to the 'absence of a pillow' to hold when the weather is cold.

One of the questions that many now ask is that 'is Ini Edo truly a married woman?’.

Meanwhile, Philips flew into Nigeria few days ago for the burial of his mother. Ini was also there. Our source said Philip will soon travel back to his base without Ini going with him.

'I’ll Marry When I Meet The Right Man' - Actress, Bimbo Akintola

Talented Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola is gradually thinking about marriage as she approaches age 42.
The actress in a recent interview with Daily Sun said she is not in a rush to get married.
Bimbo Akintola said if she doesn’t find a man to love for the rest of her life, she won’t bother giving marriage a try.
Interview excerpt below
Do you sometimes think about marriage?
Of course, I do. Like every human being on earth, I do. Marriage is such a huge step, it’s deep. Marriage is the relationship that is the most difficult of all relationships. If I can’t see someone and say oh, yeah, I wanna be with this person for the rest of my life or even think it, I won’t do it.
I say that all the time and people say oh my God, she said she would never marry, I can’t believe it. That’s not what I’m saying (Voice rising). I’m simply saying if I don’t see someone that I believe I can look at for the rest of my life, I won’t do it.
So, what do you want in a man?
Someone that has principles, integrity, someone that’s kind, someone that’s funny, someone that’s clean (Chuckles). Very clean! Someone that’s compassionate. You see, it’s not about being tall, dark and handsome, it’s not about money. We would work for it together or whatever. My mum didn’t marry my father a rich man. So, I don’t put much emphasis on money.
It’s not about money or looks, it’s about your heart and your head. So, for me o, I have to be in the person’s heart and the person’s head. Intellect and you know, human feelings.
In her long time in Nollywood, the actress simply stopped trying after a lot of headache finding the right man.
She was quoted saying she would rather wait a lifetime than to snatch another woman’s husband.
