Kanye West skips Grammys to hang out in Malibu with Kardashians after previously ranting about his paltry two nominations

His opus Yeezus was snubbed when nominations for Grammys Record of the Year were announced, garnering just two nods. 

While Kanye West was up for Best Rap Song for New Slaves and Best Rap Album for Yeezus, the 36-year-old rapper decided to skip the ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday in favour of a day at the Kardashian/Jenner family Malibu beach house.

As his peers, including close pal Jay Z were busy performing and picking up awards at music's biggest night, Kanye soaked up the sunshine on the balcony of his reality TV star fiancée Kim Kardashian's family getaway.

It was a much more relaxed Kanye than the angry performer who raged against the snub while on the Phoenix leg of his tour last December.

He said: 'They try to trivialise my words and try to make it seem like my importance as a musician is less important than what it is ... Now I'm 36-years-old and I have 21 Grammys. That's the most Grammys of any 36-year-old. Out of all those 21 Grammys, I've never won a Grammy against a white artist.'

Snubbed: While Kanye was up for Best Rap Song for New Slaves and Best Rap Album for Yeezus, he felt his album should have garnered more nominations 

[This is untrue as he has picked up awards after going head to head with the likes of Eminem and the Beastie Boys].

'So, when the Grammy nominations come out and Yeezus is the Top one or two albums on every single list, but only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say? Do they think that I wouldn’t notice? Do they think that some way that I don’t have the power to completely diminish all of their credibility at this moment…People come to me and they congratulate me on those two nominations. F**k those nominations.’

Even if Kanye had forgiven the nominations committee for his perceived snub, perhaps he had a feeling he wasn’t going to win either of the awards he was nominated for, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis beating him to the gongs in both categories.

However, proud papa Kanye, who welcomed baby daughter North with Kim last summer, will no doubt be disappointed that he didn’t win a new toy for North.

After all, his frequent collaborator Jay Z picked up two and joked his award for Best/Rap Sung Collaboration for Holy Grail featuring Justin Timberlake was the perfect new 'sippy cup' for his two-year-old Blue Ivy.

He said: 'I want to thank God, I mean, a little bit for this award, but also all the universe for conspiring and for putting that beautiful light of a young lady in my life.'

Holding his golden gramophone statue aloft, he added: 'I want to tell Blue, Look, Daddy got a gold sippy cup for you!'

Jay – who opened the awards with a scintillating performance of Drunk In Love with his wife Beyonce – also won for Best Music Video for Timberlake's Suit & Tie.

Timberlake, who was nominated for seven awards, winning three, also skipped the ceremony as did Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.

To millions of Christians, they are a symbol of peace.

But to a pair of larger birds, the two doves released in the Vatican yesterday were nothing more than a chance for a bit of Sunday morning sport. 

No sooner had the birds been set free in St Peter’s Square – as a symbolic gesture of peace for Ukraine – than they were set upon by a seagull and a crow.

The two larger birds swooped on the defenceless doves during the Pope’s weekly Sunday Angelus prayer in front of tens of thousands of worshippers gathered in the Vatican. 

After saying a prayer for Ukraine, where at least three people were killed during the latest clashes that have seen Kiev in flames, the Pontiff helped schoolchildren release the doves from the window of the Apostolic Palace as a peace gesture.

But they were immediately attacked. The seagull pinned one of the doves against the wall of the palace and pecked at its tail, but was left with a mouthful of feathers as its victim made an escape.

The crow caught the smaller bird unawares, as it rested on a windowsill, before pecking at it repeatedly.  Again, the victim managed to get away.

Eventually both doves flew off, seemingly uninjured, to the relief of tens of thousands of onlookers. 

The release of the birds concludes the Vatican’s annual  Caravan of Peace event. 

Last year one of the doves was set upon by a gull, while in 2012 they simply flew back into the Apostolic Apartments.

While speaking at the window beforehand, Francis had appealed for peace in Ukraine, after at least three people were killed during the latest clashes in the two-month crisis.

Police and demonstrators in Kiev fought again as protests against President Viktor Yanukovich's abrupt turn away from the European Union towards Russia, Ukraine's former Soviet overlord.

‘I am close to Ukraine in prayer, in particular to those who have lost their lives in recent days and to their families,’ Francis said in his weekly Angelus in St Peter's Square.

‘I hope that a constructive dialogue between the institutions and civil society can take place, that any resort to violence is avoided and that the spirit of peace and a search for the common good is in the hearts of all.’

The mass rallies against President Yanukovich's rule erupted last November after he pulled out of a free trade deal with the European Union in favour of closer economic ties with Russia.

They have since spiralled into protests against misrule and corruption among Ukraine's leaders and officials. 

There have been violent clashes with police in Kiev city centre, resulting in the death of three protesters last week, two from gunshot wounds.

Beyoncé went sultry — with wet hair and a chair dance — for her first performance of ‘Drunk in Love.’

What better way to kick off music's biggest night than with music's hottest couple?

Beyoncé and Jay Z certainly brought the heat right off the bat, opening the 56th annual Grammy Awards with a steamy performance of her song "Drunk In Love."

Queen Bey didn’t miss a beat, writhing around on a chair while belting out the catchy anthem about being married and in love.

Queen Bey began her performance with a racy chair dance. She wore a sheer bodysuit and sported wet hair for the sultry rendition of the popular song from her self-titled fifth studio album.

Some parents complained that Beyoncé’s outfit — which was sheer and featured a thong-style back — was too racy for televison.

Soon joined by her husband, the couple danced together and even shared an onstage kiss in the middle of the song.

Some watchers took to Twitter complaining that Beyoncé's sexiness right at the beginning of the show was inappropriate, considering some children may have still been watching at that hour.

      Beyoncé stunned on the red carpet in a Michael Costello lace gown.

"Come on people!!" another user, @kdstapp, wrote. "Yeah Beyoncé has an amazing voice but that outfit?!?!? Completely no class. Give children something to look up to #absurd"

Others complained that Beyoncé, 32, has been lauded for her sexy display, while Miley Cyrus' onstage romp at the Video Music Awards in August was heavily criticized.

Still, others slammed the pop comparison, saying Beyoncé is a married woman who did a sexy dance on stage with her husband, while Cyrus, 20, grinded inappropriately with a married man and made a mockery of foam fingers.

Imagine Dragons & Kendrick Lamar performing "m.a.a.d. City" & "Radioacti...

Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons hit the stage at Sunday's Grammys, coming together for a head-turning (and head-pounding) team-up.

The artists joined forces for a mashup of Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive," for which they won the best rock performance Grammy, with Kendrick Lamar's "m.A.A.d City," off of the rapper's seven-times nominated "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City."

The band and rapper -- dressed in all white -- rocked out together on a smoke-filled stage, strobe lights blazing. The sound cut out multiple times during Lamar's rhymes, while many in the audience rose to their feet to dance or sing along, including Jay Z, Beyonce, Lorde, Katy Perry, Robin Thicke and Steven Tyler.
Soon after the performance, Imagine Dragons debuted the remix to "Radioactive," featuring Kendrick Lamar on iTunes.
"In a perfect world, it would be like the Hunger Games and at the end, me and Kendrick would light on fire," Reynolds told THR of his hopes for the performance. Among Lamar's pre-game advice to his Imagine Dragons collaborators: "Don't go against your own shit....I don't want anybody to do anything fake." He also had high-praise for the band, praising its members' "energy and stage presence."
