Missing Malaysia Airlines flight: Six things we know so far

As the search for Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 continues with few clues, we look at what we know for certain.
We have now entered the third day of the search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 - the passenger jet which appeared to vanish without trace on Friday night.
The plane - a Boeing 777-200ER - lost contact with ground control about an hour into its flight from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia to Beijing in China, disappearing from all detection systems in clear weather, and with no distress signal.
There were 239 people on board, including 12 crew, but no trace of the aircraft or its passengers have yet been found.
Nine countries are currently involved in the search effort, which is covering thousands of square kilometres of sea, but many questions remain unanswered.
Here we take a look at what we do know so far.

1. Last contact

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 takes off on Saturday at 12.21am (14:21 GMT Friday) from Kuala Lumpur, headed for Beijing where it was due to land at 6.30am (22:30 GMT Friday) the same day. It had 227 and 12 crew on board.
But it lost contact with ground control between one and two hours into the flight - around 120 nautical miles off the east coast of Malaysian town Kota Bharu.
The plane's pilots sent no distress signal, and the weather was clear at the time. It would have been travelling at an altitude of 35,000ft at the time

2. Mystery passengers

As mentioned, there were 227 passengers on board, made up of 154 people from China and Taiwain, 38 Malaysians, seven Indonesians, six Australians, five Indians, four French and three Americans.
But we learned on Saturday, two of those on the passenger manifest - Austrian Christian Kozel and Italian Luigi Maraldi - who were not on the plane.
Both had their passports stolen in Thailand during the past two years, and investigators are now trying to establish who was travelling in their place.
Crime agency Interpol has also said its investigations showed there could have been other people with "suspect passports", and is working to find our more about them.
And Malaysian authorities say they are investigating up to four people who they believe could have been travelling with dodgy documents, and have called in the FBI for support.

3. Route change

On Sunday, it was revealed that radar records indicated the flight may gave turned back from its scheduled route before disappearing.
This led the search operation to be widened, with teams looking on both sides of the Malaysian peninsula.
Wide search: Teams are looking on both sides of Malaysia

4. No debris found

Despite reports of oil slicks and debris being spotted in the sea by search teams, investigators say nothing has yet been found that can be linked to the plane.
A Vietnamese plane spotted a "yellow floating object" earlier today that it was thought could have been a life raft. But after helicopters and boats were scrambled to the area of sea south of Vietnam, they found the floating debris was not linked to the plane.
There have also been sightings of several oil slicks in the sea. But again, tests revealed it was not jet fuel. It's thought it was probably from a ship.

5. Terrorism is a possibility

Authorities say they are looking at all possibilities for what has happened to MH370, but they have not ruled out a hijacking as a cause of the disappearance.
Malaysia's civil aviation chief Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said the fate of the craft was an "unprecedented mystery", and the families of the passengers had been told to prepare for the worst.
But he said they were as baffled by the vanishing plane as the rest of the world.

6. The search will go on

But while many questions remain unanswered, Mr Rahman said they would continue searching until they found them.
He said the search would "take as long as it takes".
"We are every hour, every second looking at ever area of the sea".
The rescue effort is being supported by teams from Australia, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, New Zealand and the US.

MJ's Alleged Son You Can't Get MJ's Money

Michael Jackson's newly-proclaimed alleged son will be fending for himself for the rest of his life, because there's NO WAY he can touch the money in MJ's estate.

Brandon Howard says he has no interest in going after the Estate, and that's a good thing, because Michael made sure he and everyone else in the world -- except Prince, Paris and Blanket -- could not lay a hand on MJ's assets.

According to Michael's will ... Michael's 3 kids, along with some charities, ultimately get his money.  Michael also made sure that Katherine was supported during her lifetime.

We just dug through Michael's 2002 will -- in which he explicitly wrote, "Except as otherwise provided in this Will or in the Trust ... I have intentionally omitted to provide for my heirs."

Under the law, that's all she wrote, because MJ had every right to disinherit anyone he wanted ... even his own kids.  What he did was provide for Paris, Blanket and Prince ... and even if someone else could prove they were sired by the singer ... tough luck.

Bottom line ... Michael beat it, even in death

Justin Bieber Videotaped Deposition Like You've Never Seen Him ... And It's Bad

Justin Bieber can be insulting, arrogant, snotty, ignorant and disrespectful ... and all in one sitting -- because that's exactly what he was like during his deposition last week in the lawsuit where his bodyguard allegedly beat up a photog.

TMZ obtained a copy of the entire 4 1/2 hour, videotaped depo ... and it's just unreal.  We've boiled it down to what we think are the best 4 clips.

1.  ARROGANT BIEBER -- He just can't hide his contempt for the photog's lawyer, and it comes out in pretty awful ways.  We put some snippets together and you'll get the idea.  It represents his attitude throughout the depo.

2.  LOVESICK BIEBER -- Selena Gomez is clearly a hot button, because when the lawyer asks about her, everyone goes nuclear.  Bieber eventually rips his mic off and he and his lawyer storm out.

3.  CONTENTIOUS BIEBER -- He compares his interrogation to being grilled by Katie Couric or "60 MInutes."  Simply hilarious.

4.  DISRESPECTFUL BIEBER -- When asked if Usher discovered him, Bieber disses his mentor and says he was actually discovered on YouTube.  The best part ... he clearly was trying to say he himself was instrumental in his success, but instead he says, "I was detrimental to my own career."
Truer words have never been spoken.

We Have Spent N300m On MVP Lounge & Restaurant – Comedian Ay

Comedian AY has revealed in an exclusive chat with Encomium Weekly that he has spent way over N300m to build his MVP Lounge and Restaurant in Lekki. He revealed that the building will be the largest in this part of the world for such a business, and his wife has been in charge of the Interiors. She is giving us designs you can’t find anywhere here, he said.
We learnt you have spent over N300 million on this project? The aforementioned amount might turn out to be an understatement when you come to MVP to see what we are putting in place in Lekki, Lagos. A lot has gone in, and even more to come. We are having a world class and premium Restaurant Nightclub Lounge.
How much have gone into this and how much more do you reckon you will spend? You might want to interview the accountant of MVP and the contractors in charge of different aspects of the project to get an exact figure.
A source also told Encomium Weekly you have investors who are in this with you? MVP, at the moment, has two other directors that are partnering me to make it become what we have designed the place to be. I am sure you would agree with me that is the right way to go in other to explore the challenges and opportunities associated with getting it right in a sustainable society.
What is the equity like? 50/50? The equity is well defined. But if you are looking at buying into the business we still have a room and a parlour left in the entire compound. Who is coordinating the designs? The entire project is being handled by Midas Interiors. Incidentally, the MD/CEO is my wife, Mabel Makun. She has put in place classy designs that you will not find in any nightclub in Nigeria.

Teenager blasted after posting video of himself having sex with girl in alley on Facebook

Facebook
A teenager was blasted for filming himself having sex with a girl in an alley and posting it on Facebook.

It was also posted to the page of Adrian Kennedy and Jeremy Dixon, presenters of Ireland radio station 98FM’s Dublin Talks.

The shock jocks, who reported the video to Facebook, posted a statement on their page slamming the youngster for his behaviour.

They said: “To the young lad who uploaded it, it’s not funny, it’s not smart and you’re an immature t**t. Grow up and have some respect for yourself and the young girl.

The sleazy video, shot in North Dublin, was recorded on a mobile phone.

The short clip pans to the teenage boy’s face and he is clearly identified.

After the video was posted to Facebook the girl, believed to be just 17, was also identified.

Within minutes the short clip was viewed and shared by hundreds alongside cruel comments.

“This should act as a warning to parents to keep an eye on what your teenagers are doing on social media.”
Jeremy Dixon
Surprisingly, some followers said the statement was aggravating the situation and they should take the status down, including the young man in the video.

The teen claims he deleted the video after three minutes but it was re-posted by others.

Jeremy told the Irish Mirror last night: “He was the one that was foolish enough to do it.

“From what we are told now the girl may be 17 and not 13 like originally thought. Obviously our concern is if she was underage it’s a completely different story.”

The DJ likened the story to that of last year’s infamous ‘Slane girl’ and ‘02 girl’ where both women were photographed involved in lewd acts that then went viral on the internet.

“These people allow themselves to be videoed and then they give out when it ends up on social media. Teenage young fellas are so immature. But he has told us that he’s talking to the girl’s parents now so I’d say there’s war going down. He deserves everything he gets.”

He added: “You’d think that after what Slane girl went though teenagers would learn but they don’t.

“We went to great lengths to make sure the girl and guy was not named on our Facebook page. And we banned several people from the page for trying to put the link up.”

Justin Bieber D.A. Doesn't Want CELEBRITY JUSTICE

The L.A. County District Attorney wants to make sure Justin Bieber is treated like Joe Schmoe when they charge him with egging his neighbor's house ... and that's why the case hasn't been filed.

Law enforcement sources involved in the case tell TMZ ... prosecutors are still evaluating 2 factors in deciding whether to charge Bieber with a misdemeanor or a felony.  First, the D.A. is digging deep into the exact amount of damage the yoking cost the homeowner.

As we first reported ... the homeowner submitted estimates to the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. putting the total tab at around $20K.

The D.A. is also looking at similar cases they and other law enforcement agencies have prosecuted, to determine if a misdemeanor or a felony is most appropriate.  They don't want this to look like "celebrity justice."  The complicating factor -- they've already charged Lil Za with FELONY vandalism for breaking a $400 jail phone.

Our sources say the amount of damage isn't the only factor.  The egregiousness of the act is also a big factor.

Notice we are not couching this post by saying Bieber might not be charged.  That's because we're told he will be charged ... the only issue is whether it's a misdemeanor or a felony.  If you're betting, go with the former.

Da Brat I'm Paying My Debt Slowly, But Surely

Da Brat is already made a dent in paying off her massive $6.4 million debt ... $400 down, $6,399,600 to go.

The rapper performed Saturday night at a bar in Atlanta ... and according to Dennis Byron -- the guy who shot the video -- Brat's raps were inspired by her prison stint.

We broke the story ... Brat has to pay an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader $6.4 million for beating her face in with a bottle back in '07.

We're told Da Brat got paid for the gig ... but based on the setup, it couldn't have been much.

Hulk Hogan to CM Punk Please Come Back to the WWE!

Count Hulk Hogan among the legion of WWE fans who hope CM Punk makes a wrestling comeback in the near future.

Punk has been radio silent (no interviews and his Twitter account has been quiet for over a month) since he quit the WWE. As TMZ first reported, Punk was pissed that he was passed over for the title match at next month's Wrestlemania event in favor of Batista.

When our photog spotted the Hulkster yesterday in New York, he made it clear ... he wants CM back in the squared circle where he belongs.

Marc Anthony Ex Told Get Out of the Neighborhood You 'Whore!'

Marc Anthony says ex-wife had to sell her home because the wife of the married man she was banging was yelling "whore" through a bullhorn in front of her house and wouldn't stop.

Dayanara Torres is trying to increase her child support payments from $13K a month to $113K.  She says she's so strapped for cash she had to sell her home and now she's living with the 2 kids in a hovel of an apartment in the San Fernando Valley.

But Marc tells a very different story.  In legal docs he says Dayanara was SHAMED out of the house because the wife of her adulterous lover took to the sidewalk "with a bullhorn yelling 'whore' for the whole neighborhood to hear."

Marc says the scorned woman was so unrelenting ... he sent his own security to help.

And, he says, part of her financial plight is her own doing, because she ended up selling the house at a loss.  Lesson -- don't bang married men.

Dayanara denies the whole bullhorn incident.

JayZ Agrees To Be Kanye West's Best Man If Only?

JayZ has ventured into nearly every type of media, but there is still one medium he won't step into: reality television. And according to a report on DailyStar, for that single reason he is refusing to be Kanye's Best Man at his wedding.

Kanye West, 36, reportedly offered Jay Z, 44, the role of Best Man at his upcoming, hotly anticipated wedding. Initially JayZ accepted but now says he would be Best Man under one condition: that he, his wife Beyonce, 32, and daughter Blue Ivy wouldn't be caught on camera. That under no circumstance should the KUWTK reality TV show film him, his wife Beyoncé or daughter Blue Ivy during the ceremony.

In spite of recent claims by Kim Kardashian, 33, that she's hopeful her wedding to Kanye willl remain small and intimate, the private affair will still more than likely be recorded for Kim's reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashian, as she has done with most major milestones in her life.

'Bosses at E! are desperate to get the nuptials on air, and will pay millions to make it happen" a close Kardashian friend divulged to Daily Star. 'And the thought of popping up in KUWTK mortifies Beyoncé,' the source elaborated.
'She purposefully keeps herself away from trashy TV and isn’t prepared to lower her standards for anyone, or any occasion.'

SKALES Reveal Reason Why He Left EME Records and Many More.

Raoul John Njen-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, tells Ademola Olonilua why he left EME and his relationship with Timaya
You must be close to your mother for you to talk about her all the time…
We are very close. She is my best friend and she knows everything about me. I am her only child and as such, we are really close. I owe my mother a lot because she sacrificed a lot for me. After my father left us, my mother concentrated on me and even forgot about herself.

Was it really so tough for her to train you?
It was very tough. There was a time my mother had to do menial jobs just to provide for me. Then she was being paid N500 daily. When I went from being the first to the seventh in the class, she came to my school and was crying.

She felt I was not focused anymore but there were subjects I never understood like Economics. She borrowed a lot of money just because of me. She used the money to pay my school fees. She wanted me to attend the best schools in Kaduna. There were times I would advise her to allow me go to
cheaper schools but she would refuse. I was about the poorest boy in my school. I was in a class where we had children of commissioners, senators and so many rich people but she wanted me to complete my education. She always tried to get me the best things so I could compete with my peers.

Do you even think of repaying her for all she did for you back then?
The first thing I want to do is to buy her a very big house. She works in Kaduna and wants to come to Lagos but I keep telling her to give me time. I am going to tell her to stop working soon. I would get her a big house; buy her the best car and anything she wants.

How about your father?
My parents are separated and I have not seen my father since I was eight years old. We have not kept in touch since then. After their separation, we moved on with our lives.

How was it combining music with your academics?
Honestly, it was tough. I was able to complete my education by the grace of God. I was determined, focused and promised myself I was going to finish school at all cost. There were times I missed exams because of my career. I had carry-overs because I had to travel out of the country for several shows. It is just sacrifice. Music is like a very selfish girlfriend while education is also the same. Both of them require a hundred per cent attention; I did my best and to God be the glory, even though I am from a polygamous family, I sorted it out.

As someone who had to grow fast and be the breadwinner at a tender age, what were some of the challenges you faced? As the only child and the fact that my mother is getting older, I am the breadwinner of the house. There is a lot of pressure and I have to be thinking all the time of how I would provide for my family and myself. Sometimes she calls me for advice because I am the only one she trusts in the whole world. There has been a lot of pressure but God has seen me through.

What is the significance of the many tattoos on your body?
They all mean something to me. I am still going to have a tattoo of my mother’s face somewhere on my body; maybe that is going to be her next birthday gift even though she doesn’t like tattoos. She doesn’t know I have all these tattoos.

Why did you leave Kaduna, where you were born, for Lagos?I would say as a young boy, I was very ambitious because I left my house when I was about 16 years old. Right from secondary school, I had started taking care of myself. I paid my tuition fees while I was in the University of Jos. I was working, I was writing songs for people because I have been doing music for a very long time. I was getting paid writing songs for people and also for being a back-up singer as well. I was paying my school fees which was about N15,000 but still it was not so easy to get. I later won a competition and I was crowned the northern champion and from there, I decided to make a move to Lagos. I thank my friend, Tijani, that gave me a free ride to Lagos.

How was it coming to a state where you did not really know anybody?
It was not an easy journey for me. This happened about five years ago. Tijani’s elder brother was my friend and when I wanted to move to Lagos, I just called them to let them know of my decision. They asked me if I knew anybody in Lagos and I said I knew a handful of people. I told them that I did not know them that well and that I was not sure they would accept me. Tijani told me he was also moving to Lagos and I agreed to go with him especially because I did not have money for transport. I came to Lagos with virtually nothing in my pocket but I was positive that things would turn round for me. I was full of hope. I followed my friend and stayed with him. I had to move when he told me that his parents were complaining. I told him I did not have anywhere to go because all the people that promised to help me disappointed me. He told me that he was planning to start a record label, Sweet Noise, and asked if I would be interested. I had no choice. If I said no, he would kick me out, so I agreed. We were working but I did not sign any contract. We worked together for a while until I moved on.

How did you meet Wizkid?
I met Wizkid in Knighthouse. I used to go to Knighthouse to record; Terry tha Rapman was one of the people that helped pay for studio sessions for me. I am forever grateful to him. I eventually recorded a song. It was there I met Wizkid, Osagie, Kels and some other artistes.

Over time, you and Wizkid were close friends. Then when Wizkid had issues with EME, we learnt it affected your friendship. Is that true? No, it did not affect our relationship. We are still close. We talk and still see each other often. As a matter of fact, last weekend, we were together at a beach in Lagos. We still see each other. It is just that now everybody is busy but whenever we need each other; we are always there for each other.

Your success level is often compared with Wizkid’s by fans. Does that get to you?
To be honest, I am human and the truth is that it gets to me when I am compared with Wizkid. I have come to live with the fact that I can’t help it that they must always compare me with Wizkid. We were in the same label, we started about the same time so they must always compare. It is something I cannot run away from, so I just have to keep working till I put a stamp and let them know this is me; till everybody knows Skales and Wizkid separately.

What happened between you and EME?
My contract expired and we both agreed that we would go our separate ways. I decided I wanted to be on my own, do my music and take my own decision. Nothing happened; people are just speculating and spreading rumours. We did not fight. Right now, I am working on my album, rebranding and taking Skales to the next level.

When you say you are rebranding, does it involve you being a part of Timaya’s record label?
Timaya is my buddy; we are always together. He is like my mentor, I take advice from him and I call him my big daddy. He is a very close friend of mine, we are always together and people would always speculate that I moved into his house. It is because we are close and together all the time. That is why people came up with the insinuation that I moved into his house. It is just all about music between me and him; music and friendship.

Did you move into Timaya’s house?
No, I did not move into his house. We are friends and he has a studio in his house. I do a lot of recordings there. People would always talk.

Would you be signed to his record label?
We do not know for now but like I said, I am working on just Skales, I am focused on just Skales and taking the brand to the next level. We do a lot of music together because we are always together.

There was a time insulting tweets between you and your ex girlfriend went viral online. What happened between you two?
I don’t want to talk about that. Things happen in life and you accept them as they come.

Do you regret the relationship?
It was a good thing but there are always ups and downs in life. I mean something bad happened and we cannot reverse it; so I’m moving on to other things in life.

Are you in a relationship right now?
No. I am not in a relationship.
